It's funny how some movies are the most painful to watch, yet you find yourself thinking about them more and sometimes watching them again. I almost stopping watching it because the Phil character was so ugly. I felt sorry for all the other characters, especially Peter.

"Ad Astra" on FX. Never saw it before - good so far. TLJ, Donald Sutherland, and Brad Pitt. Sci-fi!

No, Gawd no... ;-) You probably won't like it much by the end. it was promising but as I recall is't a movie about daddy issues.

The Moon buggy chase was cool :)

I recorded it.

It was OK except a weak ending. OTOH, earlier I watched "The Martian" for the umpteenth time and it was, as always, incredible. One of Ridley Scott's best works, IMHO.

I just watched "The Power of the Dog"... Good movie with an interesting ending. My GF didn't like as as much as I did.
- Jane Campion also directed The Piano (1993 - Holly Hunter, Harvey Keitel, Sam Neill, Anna Paquin)

There were lots of details lurking in the background. Did you notice the dolls house furniture "Phil Burbank (BC)" made?

But did they have plastic hair combs in 1925? Bakelite was patented in 1909 but "Peter Gordon's" comb had flexible teeth.

In-depth article on movie dialogue, https://www.slashfilm.com/673162/heres-why-movie-dialogue-has-gotten-more-difficult-to-understand-and-three-ways-to-fix-it/.

Interesting, IMHO.

^^^
Everything from my tv goes through the 5.1 surround sound system.
I just bump up the center channel a little and it makes a big difference.

If I turn it off and just use the tv speakers....it sounds like crap.

I binged through the entire 6 episode (one hour each) series on Netflix called "The Chestnut Man." Danish serial killer mystery. Pretty good. Interestingly, from the creator of "The Killing," which I really liked from 2011-2014. These are both kind of slow moving.

Haven't seen this since when it came out, so I forgot everything about it, except it was a Coen brother's movie. Their first one. It's very good. Francis McDormand was only 26 or so when she made this- she was pretty cute. Married to Joel Coen.

Prey...on Netflix. Almost a 'Ritual' 'Deliverance' movie combined....but not as good.

“Birth of the Dragon”, a Bruce Lee topic feel good movie on Netflix.

stevej37 12-05-2021 04:54 PM

I really liked this movie...Small Town Crime on Netflix
Not sure where I saw the main character before...John Hawkes...but he is good.

Never seen that...but I like his acting and his genuine look. The part he played, fit him well.
