Coming 7/21/2023. Cillian Murphy (Peaky Blinders) seems an inspired choice for the title role. Christopher Nolan directs his first biopic. Looking forward to this!

Beckett on Netflix
Second time I've seen this one...missed part of the middle last time. It's quite good.
An American tourist finds himself hunted in Greece after a bad car accident.

Some classics on TCM yesterday including "The Dirty Dozen", "The Longest Day", "Twelve O'Clock High", and "30 Seconds over Tokyo"....

"The Sting" was on TCM tonight. From 1973 directed by George Roy Hill. Won a bunch of Oscars.

Been a while since I've seen it and enjoyed it greatly!

I remember seeing it when it first came out at the local theater with some friends of mine. That was a while back but in some regards seems like only yesterday.

What a cast,eh? Robert Shaw and Ray "Mr Hand" Walston.....and how about Harold Gould and Eileen Brennan? And Charles Durning was perfect in his role!

I know it's a cliche' but they just don't make 'em like that anymore......

Appropriate movie for the day. Second time I have watched it.

Anyone watch 'Money Shot' on Netflix? :D

stevej37 03-16-2023 05:52 PM

'Crow Valley' on Prime. A movie similar to 'Misery'....but more blood.

Yea, I expected better from Brad Pitt and Margot Robbie.

Watched a movie on Netflix called Berlin Syndrome.
A very weird kidnapping and person held prisoner movie.
I think it was good.

Never saw or heard of this, but a great cast.http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1679274582.jpg

According to the laws of the Old West town where criminal Henry Lloyd Moon (Jack Nicholson) is about to be executed, a death row convict will be spared if a reputable woman promises to mend his ways. To the annoyance of ruthless Deputy Towfield (Christopher Lloyd), Julia Tate (Mary Steenburgen) vouches for Henry and assigns him to search for gold on her land. Their relationship eventually turns romantic, but Towfield and Henry's old criminal buddies threaten their domestic bliss.
And introducing Mary Steenburgen..
I still can't believe Ted Danson left her for woopie. That sounds like a bad trip.

Right now on TCM......"The Ghost and Mrs. Muir" from 1946 starring Gene Tierney and Rex Harrison.

Received a 1947 Academy Award nomination for the black-and-white cinematography.

As always, commercial free!

I remember watching the TV series that came out in 1968 and remember liking it. Watched the pilot just now and... yikes! Laugh tracks and Charles Nelson Reilly. I think it finds itself and gets better, and I liked Hope Lange and Edward Mulhare. Oh, well.

'I See You' a good thriller on Netflix starring Helen Hunt.
Excellent soundtrack.

Top Gun Maverick now free on Amazon Prime.

fanaudical 03-29-2023 08:30 PM

This looks like either a complete hoot or a total disaster - haven't decided which yet:

techweenie 03-29-2023 08:43 PM

Wes Anderson doesn’t make ‘total disasters.’

We watched "The Lobster" last night.

The rating said it had universal acclaim! That should have warned me not to bother.

On the Glen meter I give in a .01 on the 1 to 10 scale. It is the dumbest movie I have ever watched. Just a waste of time. Just bad!

stevej37 03-31-2023 06:51 AM

^^^ When that movie first came out...I thought it was a biography movie about the 'Lobster Boy'

I read the book about the LB and I actually drove past his mobile trailer home just south of Tampa a year after he died. (his son was living there at that time)
