"Hoosiers" is great! Brings to mind Billy Bob Thorton's character, Billy McBride, in Goliath who continually watched it on his laptop while winding down in his motel room.

Tonight at 8pm ET on TCM.....the cult classic from 1983 "Local Hero".

From the soundtrack, "Wild Theme" by Mark Knopler.....

As always, commercial free!

As a matter of fact I’m watching Unforgivin right now with Gene Hackman.

The scene with him, Richard Harris and Saul Rubinek and the revolver is cinematic history.

Baz 04-29-2023 06:12 PM

I'm sure it's been well over 30 years since the last time I watched "Local Hero".

So there was plenty I didn't remember, even though I'd watched it countless times in the 80's.

Seeing it now at this point in my life I certainly can appreciate much more than when I was younger.

It really is a magical story on so many levels.

You know, I believe I actually have it on VHS, too. :)

Steve Carlton 05-16-2023 03:23 PM

Totally agree. Releases on Netflix June 15th. Thor excels at special forces stuff.

sc_rufctr 05-16-2023 03:35 PM

We also get another look at Golshifteh Farahani! :) (Iranian/French)

sc_rufctr 05-17-2023 06:26 PM

I re watched this last night... The Raid: Redemption (2012)

IMO one of the best action movies of all time. If you haven't seen it please do.

Saw this earlier in the week; it's comically violent and a fun viewing. Who doesn't like to see Nazis get wasted with gusto?

Note: This is a 'red band' trailer, i.e., a preview NOT suitable for all ages.

'Moving Half the Mountain' on Prime
Actual interviews with British soldiers that survived being pow's on the 'Death Railway'
Highly recommend it.

I watched The Birds again last night. I totally forgot that Tippi drove an Aston Martin DB 2/4 in the movie.

I told my father there was a beautiful Iranian girl at Kent State I was talking to a little bit in the earlly 80's. I said man, I wish I could snuggle up to that, ya know what I mean?

He says, Son, if you ride that camel you have to buy it.

sc_rufctr 05-19-2023 06:10 PM

Less snugly ;)

How many times can I watch this movie? It's gotta be seven times at least.
