it looks very daunting. But dont give up. Go watch some videos of these cars actually running. I find that spurs me on to make some progress. That or buy some new tools.

I think there is a locator pin preventing perfect mating. I guess there are several differences between the early and late series engines. Next week I'll torque things down to specs.

Got a lot done today. Engine wiring harness, most of the coolant lines, rear prop shaft, exhaust downpipe, sway bar, seal the engine, transmissions, transfer case.. Next sort out the coolant and oil breather pipes.

Got the spark plug holes dried, cleaned out and replaced the plugs. The wells were almost half full of water. Forgot how the coolant and oil breather hoses go. Had to removed a half shaft to refit the front suspension. Ran out of daylight.

No update because the owner hasn't paid me for February. I even ordered the coil for him. He has been dodging me for 2 weeks so money...no love.

Checked the wiring, connected all the hoses, flushed the cooling system, removed the valve cover and spark plugs, lubed the cams and pistons. Cranked the engine over until it got oil pressure and gas cleaning the combustion chambers. In the home stretch.

The engine has been sitting for god knows how long. The oil cap was a bottle cap.

You REALLY need to get the rust off those cam lobes...

If you can clean and polish it off they may be just fine. If you don't, the engine will run but will have a shortened life on the cams. If you find pitting, then you'll have engage a machine shop or maybe replace the cams.

Should be pretty easy to get this cleaned/polished/sorted now rather than later.

Got a few loose connections. At the coil, possibly air flow meter but I don't think so.

Possible cold stare valve,

Now I'm not getting spark nor fuel.

Take this as a cautionary tale.
I just discovered this car came with 3 different coils. Since the original coil was missing I bought the wrong one. Just found a used proper one in the UK. In the meantime fuel system clean, fuel pump check and general clean up.
