It's great that they're released, but what did it end up costing us? What kind of 'tard goes to North Korea in the first place? It takes a special kind of stupidity to willingly travel to a place that has a history of snatching people to use as bargaining chips.

Kim Sang Duk, who also goes by the name Tony Kim, was detained last April during a brief teaching stint at the Pyongyang University of Science and Technology (PUST), which bills itself as the only privately run university in the North Korean capital.

Kim Hak-song, another US citizen who was working at PUST, was detained on May 7, 2017.

Kim is an agricultural expert who'd been teaching rice-growing at the university, his wife told CNN shortly after he was detained. She said Kim was innocent and merely trying to help North Koreans feed themselves.

The country has for years struggled with famine and food insecurity.

Kim Dong Chul, a naturalized US citizen who used to live in Virginia, was arrested in October 2015 on spying charges. .................

Kim said he moved to Yanji, a city near the Chinese-North Korean border that acts as a trade hub between the two countries, in 2001 and commuted daily to the North Korean special economic zone of Rason.

The powers that be want things cleaned up before any big meetings, these guys got swept up in the surge, lucky them.

PYONGYANG, Dprk. – U.S. officials met in secret with a delegation from North Korea last month to iron out the details of a historic agreement that will allow the Trump Organization to open a luxury hotel and casino in Pyongyang as an incentive for the regime to dismantle its nuclear program, a senior State Department official told The Wall Street Journal on Friday.

“North Koreans may soon find themselves enjoying all the benefits and experiences that a five-star luxury resort has to offer,” State Department spokesperson Stacy Friedman told The Journal. Under the agreement, the United States will purchase the Ryugyong Hotel, a 105-story pyramid-shaped skyscraper located in Pyongyang, for $850 million before turning ownership of the property over to the Trump Organization. “Ultimately, North Korea will pay us back for the cost of the hotel,” explained Ms. Friedman before adding that the five-star resort will provide a significant boost to North Korea’s struggling economy.

What’s really sad is that I have sat down with people whose viewpoints are diametrically opposed to mine and still had an intelligent and civil conversation. Often times I learn something new about the alternative viewpoint even if I still don’t agree. In my opinion if you bring emotion or petty name calling into a discussion that means that you are either not educated enough in your perspective to defend it, or too stupid to have an intelligent conversation.
