A quickie on the gas

People have been mentioning high gas prices...

in the UK a liter of regular unleaded 'petrol' is around 80 pence (approx $1.20), three and a half liters to the gallon - roughly $4.00.

Until recently it cost me less to fill up a Jeep Cherokee in Florida than a Suzuki GSXR 750 motorbike in England.

My question is "why do the Brits not complain more?"

Why is there no other word for "synonym"?

Well 42, obviously.

Why does my Euro 3.2 sputter and miss precisely at 4700 RPM and never above or below?

Did you know the word "Gullible" isn't in the dictionary?

If you want a laugh, look up the first definition of the word "pollution" in a Webster's New Collegiate Dictionary.

Why do people put Gemballa Avalanche body kits on early cars?

Why is going to the DMV such an unpleasant experience?

How come my dipstick isn't there anymore?

Just learned this...the meat was served on top of the bowl and pudding was served on the bottom. You flipped your bowl to get pudding so "how can you have any pudding if you don't eat your meat?

My question is why can't you get a modern day car ($40K or less)that compares in performance to a 911SC?

Here's one that's actually related to pcars

We've got the 996, 993, 964 and 911?? what are the earlier cars factory designations ??

Are they all 911's ?? I thought I've read something about a 901 (not to be confused w/ the transmission), but I frankly haven't seen the factory designations for the earlier cars mentioned here.

If you really want to impress me, tell me about the 911 derivative cars too (912, 930, 935 - anything else ??).

I'll save the transmission # breakdown for another post

Just curious...

Historically, flammable and inflammable mean the same thing. However, the presence of the prefix in- has misled many people into assuming that inflammable means “not flammable” or “noncombustible.” The prefix -in in inflammable is not, however, the Latin negative prefix -in, which is related to the English -un and appears in such words as indecent and inglorious. Rather, this -in is an intensive prefix derived from the Latin preposition in. This prefix also appears in the word enflame. But many people are not aware of this derivation, and for clarity's sake it is advisable to use only flammable to give warnings.

Hope that helps

Tim,

How about this!

The Meaning of life

A philosophy professor stood before his class and had some items in front of him. When the class began, wordlessly he picked up a large empty mayonnaise jar and proceeded to fill it with rocks, rocks about 2" in diameter. He then asked the students if the jar was full? They agreed that it was.
So the professor then picked up a box of pebbles and poured them into the jar. He shook the jar lightly. The pebbles, of course, rolled into the open areas between the rocks. He then asked the students again if the jar was full. They agreed it was.

The students laughed. The professor picked up a box of sand and poured it into the jar. Of course, the sand filled up everything else. Now," said the professor, "I want you to recognise that this is your life.

The rocks are the important things - your family, your partner, your health, your children - things that if everything else was lost and only they remained, your life would still be full. The pebbles are the other things that matter like your job, your house, your car. The sand is everything else. The small stuff." "If you put the sand into the jar first, there is no room for the pebbles or the rocks. The same goes for your life. If you spend all your time and energy on the small stuff, you will never have room for the things that are important to you.

Pay attention to the things that are critical to your happiness. Play with your children. Take time to get medical checkups. Take your partner out dancing. There will always be time to go to work, clean the house, give a dinner party and fix the disposal." "Take care of the rocks first - the things that really matter. Set your priorities. The rest is just sand."

But then... An Australian student then took the jar which the other students and the professor agreed was full, and proceeded to pour in a glass of beer. Of course the beer filled the remaining spaces within the jar making the jar truly full. Which proves: - that no matter how full your life is, there is always room for a beer; - your life will not be completely full without a beer.

I read somewhere that the original 911 designation was the 901, BUT Puegot had alread claimed all the middle O deisgnations and therefor the 911 was born.

That is all I know.
So my question is = What is the average airspeed of an unladen swallow?
and I get another since I didn't ask on my first post.
WHY won't my 82 TARGA RUN?

Why is the sky blue...?
No wait....Why is it that the guy who just ran a red light making a right turn in front of you (he was in a great hurry)...now putts down the road at 10MPH...?
And the REAL meaning of life is....43 1/2.
Not 42.
And up here in Cold Country Canada...gas is now.....over $4.00 a gal.
