The going rate for me today was 1500.
Well I picked up a nice set of 7&9's today.
There in their original finish that is in real good shape. So I'll probable just run them like they are for a while? or I was thinking a gun metal center and polished lips. The tires are Dunlops 8000's and have tread but from the DOT code which is 34 / 7 I'm going to say their from 1987 as they look to old to be 97. So I won't run them. They might even be the original tires as the only numbers that look like a date to me on the rims are hand stamped 30 /87 and then all the part numbers and the little fox heads are cast in. So I'm not sure? I'll try and post a pick but this PC is giving me fits. |

Those tires deserve a fitting farwell. Put em on and take them to a empty parking lot and test out you countersteering while smoking them

Yeah,
I was thinking they would be good to see if I have any rub in a nice empty parking lot. ![]() |

Those D40's are probably quite old. Haven't been made for quite some time. Good fun tires. Could probably sell 'em to some kid with a 5.0 'Stang who'd be happier than a pig in.......... with them.
It'd be a shame to do any refinishing on those wheels. They appear to be in OUTSTANDING shape!

Bob, Good looking wheels priced about right, IMO. Unless those tires have something visibly wrong, I'd use them. I had the same tires on my SC until recently, they were great until I finally killed them on the track. Or sell them to me for cheap if you want, don't throw them away or ruin them. I'll take 'em, just shoot me your # or I'll see you for the run next weekend on the 13th?

Thanks for the imput guys.
I have been trying to figure out what to do with the wheels and tires??. And yes they are D40's and not the 8000's I thought they were. I have a feeling they are the original tires that came on the wheels?? from the dates I'm reading. And the wheels are clean and still have cosmoline on the back sides. I think I'll get them rebalanced and just run them for a while. I like how they look polished but it would be a little overboard to take perfectly good finished wheels in for stripping. You saved them Kevin ![]() And Dennis, when I do change them out you have first dibs on the tires n/c. The 205's have tread but the rears are getting close to the wear bars. |
