Wheel enhancement is the former Robert Wood? I had to return a set of used nines to them several years back. They were in rougher shape than as described. He did take them back with no problems, however. Nines and 245's don't touch in back at all, at about 24" fender lip. The left front seven is the one that might rub a little.

Mark,
That's one of my concerns is the 9's do move out toward the fender about 3/8 of an inch. I might have a line on a set of 7's and 9's and if they check out? I'll just go with them and raise the rear to 24" if needed, I wouldn't think a 1/4" would make much difference though? And in front I might be good if it's the left front that is a problem as I had to replace that fender and the brand new one came with a cresent cut out and rolled a bit on the lip were the tires rub. ![]() Cheers |

I have 9's on the back of my 82SC and think they can be spaced out even further even after having the car lowered. Your car's body can't be that much different.

[B]Not quite true. See chart below done by another board member- Interesting... There is a web site (of course I can't seem to find it) that I saw during my search for wheels. It was a comprehensive look into identifying, authenticating and differentiating the Fuchs 8 and 9 inch wheel. The foto's provided showed no significant difference in the outer rim profile of the 8's and 9's (turbo offset). This was the primary reason I decided to stick with 8's. (I'll keep looking for the site... I could be wrong, or mistaken but the pictures were what they were... ![]()

What?

I'll take either 8's or 9's at the right price. I'm not picky!

for comparison, this is a picture of my car with 7 and 8's and then 8 and 9's. You can compare the rear fender clearance and see there is plenty of room still with the 9", (bottom pic.)

"The 9" wheel has exactly the same outboard profile as the 8". All of the additional width is inboard. "
Right and wrong. The 9" has exactly the same outboard profile EXCEPT that the lug mounting holes are sunk deeper into the wheel. That splits the additional width between the outside and inside. As for all the Wheel Enhancement bashing, I think some of you guys are confused. Bob Wood retired and sold his business "Robert W. Wood Inc." about 8 or 9 years ago. He 'unretired' and partnered up with John Brown about 6-7 years ago, but finally retired for good 3+ years ago. John Brown and Dave Martin handle sales and tech support, John's wife answers the phone and they have a guy -- Renee -- who mounts & balances wheels. Wheel Enhancement does not sell used wheels, so they don't give you much in trade. But trade-ins are just a convenience, anyway, since the Internet makes selling used wheels easy. Wheel Enhancement is the largest dealer in Porsche wheels in North America. They have huge repeat business. I have the history on this because I did the ads for Bob Wood and continue to do the ads and website for Wheel Enhancement. I consider John & Dave friends and so I'm definitely not objective, but I suggest you not hold the sins of others against them.

9x16 with 245/45 on the back and 8x16 (951) with 205/55 on the front. Fit nice although the fronts do come close to the fender but at the leading edge rather than at the top. The rears don't even come close.
I paid $1000 canadian + my old rubber baby buggy bumper pads for the complete set of wheels complete with 50% Yokohama AVS and some DEADLY crested centre caps which I have since sold for $200 canadian. A smokin deal for sure, and one that I know the seller regrets. My friend just bought a set of Wheel enhancement 9x16 for $670 each. Haven't seen them yet but he says they look great. Here's my ride: ![]()

Jasper--very nice ride!!
jus wondering-why the 8" fronts with 205? The more common wheel size for fronts are 7" w/ 205. The 8"(951) are relatively rare , compared to 7". Some tracker use wider tires with their 8" (951). Are there advantages to your set-up? thanks mike

Harlan:
Yes, you're right. I had too little caffeine to be trusted with a keyboard. They do sell used wheels. They have just about any cast wheel you might want. But Fuchs --the original topic -- are another matter. WE rejects most used Fuchs for curb rash or out-of-round. WE does a huge business in refinishing and uses most of the Fuchs that pass muster for people who want to buy outright or exhange wheels. The actual number of Fuchs that are available used -- not refinished -- for purchase is very small.

As far as the 205's go....I would have thought they'd be a tough fit, but in fact they fit real well, with absolutly no sidewall bulge. It turns out that 245's on the 9s fit the same, ie no sidewall bulge. The whole effect is quite pleasing aesthetically, and the handling is razor sharp. Leaps and bounds over the stock 6 and 7x16 setup. cheers! ![]()

nosubstitute "The left front seven is the one that might rub a little." Why does the left rub and not the right? I have 7's (205/55) and 8's (245/45) at 25" with light rubbing on left during a DE. Rears are fine.

http://www.nicholas-moss.co.uk/html/rims.html Nick Moss is a Pelican member by the way........... You'll notice in the middle of the page the pictures of the difference in the lug holes. This lug hole issue and the slightly different offset (+15mm for the 16x9 and +10.6 for the 911 16x8) is how the 911/930 Fuchs 16x8 and Fuchs 16x9 happen to look the same from the outside.

Indeed, that's it. I was overlooking the lug depth, just looking at it from a rim profile... Like someone said, sorta right, sorta wrong.
Thanks for the site info... ![]()
