Josh, The part number for "the piece that covers the gap between the spoiler and decklid when the spoiler is raised" is 964.512.333.00 (that's what is stamped on mine -- from a 1990). It's plastic.

Thanks Shelley - It looks like it's about $50 through Pelican, which I will probably order, unless I can source a used one.

I have to take more pics of how wires are run and the underside if the decklid to show the motor, switches, etc. Not sure about weight. I read it somewhere recently, but I forget the figure. If I had to guess, it may add 10lbs, at the most.

The 964 decklid is 27 pounds. The flat steel one is about 14. Both weights include hinges. So there's about a 13 pound difference.

That's not bad at all for such an adv. in Cd and CL.... The 13 lbs. incudes the motor, bigger hinges & electornics? | ||

				I am unhinged

Matt, I am just getting prepared to install a 964 deck lid on my 73 targa. Please PM me with cost & availability of your fine hinges. I have purchased a deck lid / spoiler complete, and it will need to be painted black, so i will probably just paint the hinges at the same time. Is the extra strut(s) REQUIRED to hold the lid up, or just in some cases??? Thanks,

Hi Bill! An extra strut will be required to support the extra weight of the 964 lid assembly. You can buy or fabricate a mount to add an extra strut to the left hinge beside the original strut if you like, and that will work also. The drawback to that is that all the support is being done at one side and can affect the fit of the decklid as it leaves both struts pushing on one hinge. My strut mod mimicks the factory mount in placement and geometry and the mount for the body side of the strut is just like the factory's. Currently, the hinges with all the mods and blasted to bare metal are running $150.00 including return shipping. That is outright and if you prefer to send your own hinges take $25.00 off that. Right now I don't have any built and will have to buy some cores. Probably take 2-3 weeks to ship as this is a busy time of year for me. Thanks for your interest, Matt

Matt, Thanks for all the good information. Please build me a set as soon as you can obtain cores. I think I will keep my old deck/hinges together, pack-rat that I am. I want all the mods, and bare metal is fine for my needs. You can reach me at my regular email address of willi-911@earthlink.net Let me know what schedule develops. Thanks again,
