Recently finished installation of a factory hardtop and stripes (to camouflage bad 1976 paint). Looks like a "Targa Coupe".

And we've heard 3.2s were for the slow lane.
![]() What track do you go to. How does it do top end? What size are the carbs? What fun. Regards,

Carbs are 46# webers The 3.2 is out of a 1989 911 and is built with JE pistons Pauter rods
knife edged crank etc.......7,200 rpm redline My electromotive control unit could be set for 7,500 but a good conservative # is 7,200. It pulls real hard and sounds amazing past 6k rpm!! Summit Point is my home track and this car is a blast there. I have yet to drive it on track with the widebody and huge wheels. I am just getting final details sorted and hopefully will be driving it again. ![]() ![]() |

7500 I don't know Summit Point. I know Daytona. 7500 Pics of the crank? Don't see to many knifed edged cranks. What cylinders? Let us know how she does now that she is all fit. Fun times.

In Praise of the 911 Targa
In praise of the Targa? I can tell you that I sure do love ours.
We've had three of them now - years ago a '70 914/6, more recently a '69 and now an '82. The 914 was my wife's, bless her heart. And when I decided in 2002 that I needed another Porsche, she told me that if so, it had to be something that could go topless. She was right, as usual. There is nothing like driving one of these cars with the top removed. The extra added benefit is the additional head room - I'm a tall person and just do not fit in the typical 911 sunroof coupe. So these topless wonders suit me right down to my shoes. (And another plug for the SC variant - man, what a solid car. Same chassis as my '69 for sure, but with the 3.0-liter engine and the 915 transmission, so much more substantial. Much faster too. I like!) Re the below photo - it's one I've posted previously. I've had the car for just about a month now and between having it in the shop to get a few little problems sorted and being away on holiday, I've not had time to do a proper photo shoot on the thing. But I will. FWIW, the white car is the current ride, the orange car is my old one. Great cars, both of them. ![]() ![]()

Ruby is still the benchmark IMO. She is one the the most aesthetically pleasing and performance minded 911's ever. ![]() Mike |

It's 'Platinum Metalic'. It changes hue depending on the sky. I've seen several others on this site too.

I bought the car from a friend who races a 996 cup car, He has had it down to Daytona (cup car)for a club race with intersport(a DC area performance shop for support). The infamous Charlie Murphy from intersport built the motor and I bought the car completed. I then decided to backdate it after running it at Summit for a season. Summit point is a quaint 10 turn track within an hour and one half from DC. I instruct for Bill scott racing which is the group which owns the track. This is a fun track.
