Add a liquid to air IC and put the heat exchanger under the dash. Stay on boost and get all the heat you want

That is ....... different.
A lot of odd engineering on a dirty motor and car. The plumbing is not unlike what I have thought about if using CIS, definitely not what I would use with EFI. I wonder how it ran? Thanks all for the pix and links, very informative. I stated a few weeks ago that a very generous Pelicanhead had offered to make me up some flanges. Well he came through for us. They were waiting for me Wednesday evening when I got home. I cannot thank you enough - these are great !! Unfortunately I have to take a break from the Evil Engine and focus on my sick 915. I very badly want to go to THE DRAGON in November and meet some of you guys. My 915 is whining after a bit of abuse and needs a full tear-down and a new R&P. I've never done an R&R on a 915 before and cannot afford to have it done (again). Sooooooooo I'm gonna grit my teeth, print out some Pelican threads, cross my fingers and hope for the best. I know you all will be there for me if I get in a jam.

CIS parts gathering breakthrough - I finaly found an inexpensive 930 intake manifold. Now I can really go to town. I think I have all the remaining CIS parts that stack on top of the intake.
More good news - My offer on a set of twin turbo heat exchangers was accepted on Saturday. Big breakthrough for the exhaust side of things. I'll post a picture just as soon as I receive the exchangers. I have also made an offer on a driver's side heater duct. If anyone has a passenger's side duct I'm all ears.

Brian,
Are you building two engines? I just saw your other thoughts this morning on Rennlist about a turbo upgrade and useable rpms. This makes a lot of sense with the 915 gear ratios. Where are the TT going? Just interested in your intentions for the TT's ![]() Did you get a set of 993TT HE's? I will follow this with great interest since my 3.0 is still on the stand with the one turbo mocked up

The k27-7200 vs HF question was posted for my current engine, the one in the car. The Evil Engine is a mule motor built to mock-up a twin turbo setup that will be transplanted onto my current 930 engine wen finished.
I anticipate it will take many months to finish the evil engine and thought I would "enhance" the 930 engine with a turbo unpgrade if all that was involved was a housing swap. Turns out it is much more than that. They want $1000 to convert my 7200. No 993tt heat exchangers. That would be nice but costly. I would have to figure out some way to move all the oil lines on the passenger's side. How are you doing that? The exchangers I have agreed to purchase are home built rear mount units.

Too many projects around the garage. You're ahead of me and I don't have any lines on my spare engine.....hmm better look at this! Didn't see a problem on the first side, but haven't committed 100% on these HE's so haven't had Ben flip the flanges yet. Too cold for the "race shop" now so might start back on engine which like the Pcar is in the attached garage (heated). Remember the northern winters

Just to add to the discussion here is another interesting setup for ya. This motor I'm pretty sure is still the fastest air cooled Porsche motor with timeslips of 230mph. This was more of a budget build but made some great HP with MFI!

Good Lord how can I forget the Northern winters? You're makin' me cold just talking about it. My trips to IL are getting less and less frequent. I had to run back a few weeks ago for a funeral and it was spitting snow!
I gotta hang tight for a few more days waiting on the custom heat exchangers. The person who has them has not given me a shipping price yet so money still has not changed hands. With any luck at all I will have them in my possesion next week, just in time for turkey day (won't THAT make the misses happy). I'll post pix the minute they are here. Unfortunately the flanges on those units have to be rotated also. Good new is that if they fit my application I will be selling the 993 exchangers and the matching M&K muffler that came with them. The flanges have been flipped on the 993s and the units polished up. Some lucky Pelicanhead will be very happy this Christmas! As for relocating the oil lines, the car pictured at the top of this page has had them moved. We need to contact him and see what was involved. The most problematic line would be the large "S" that goes from the engine oil cooler to the bottom of the oil lank. Take a peak under your car at that one, looks tricky. ZLP - you were posting at the same time as myself. What is the story behing THAT engine? The turbos both face the same direction, I've never seen that before. And MFI, wow that is different.

Wow, a chopped top. Those guys were nuts!
Do you have more detailed pictures of the complete engine?

WOW, that is SICK, ZLP! I think I vaguely remember that car from the 80s. I love the "on a budget" aspects of a project like this.

Not to take Rarely's thread OT, but has the use of MFI in a 930 been done before? I always love the looks of MFI in a normally aspirated vintage racer.

Some form of 935 used MFI if memory serves. I'm sure it was pretty far removed from your normal 2.4MFI type setup. At any rate that is a very interesting engine considering CIS was used on 911s until 1984 and on 930s until 1995. There weren't a lot of options at that time when it came to fuel delivery.
