Where can I find a good thread(s) on a 3.2 to 3.4 rebuild?

Plagued by the 3 character search failure. Done numerous searchs and I've come up empty. Can anyone direct me to a good thread on a 3.2/3.4 rebuild using 98mm P&C's.

Thanks!

I've been thinking of this myself, and will probably go with the Mahle Sport P&Cs, 964 cams, and stock Motronic with single spark plugs. It's a street machine, not a racer. You might get more luck trying Mahle or Mahle Sport on the bbs, such as Renn, or PCA.

maybe a little OT

Thoughts are that when this engine either burns out or I run across a super $ deAl, I'll instAll a 3.4.

being how this car is pointedly built to travel x-country I'd want max torque at around 4.5k rpm. If there's a sacrifice above 6k rpm I don't care.

One of the greatest things you can do with this car is cruise at 3.8-5k rpms in 5th for hours and hours with a 915 in the great west. Which leads me to wanting more torque when doing it. It's All about suspension, spoilers, tires, a strong tranny and 930 brakes.

I need more power between 90-120 mph. It Also has to be operated with regular gas. I could get more "snap" out of my 2.7 with higher compression but then I can't go anywhere with it.

I think I can 3.4 a 9.1:1 with regular gas and a twin plug. I don't want to push the envelope either. Reg gas is Already 10% Al nearly All over and it'll probably get worse. Head work could get interesting Also?

anyway, a loose thought would give me something to think about.

Here's a link to Ralph's 3.5L rebuild as chronicled in Euro Car Magazine. Great write-up with tons of content & Photos. Answered many of my newbie questions that I have been reluctant to post for fear of "use the search key" admonishment.

Enjoy! I sure did.
