Al, Will you continue to use the distributor or change to crank fire ignition?

The engine has been installed in Tony's IROC project and it's a little ways off from becoming a driver, but I have it all set up for EDIS/crankfire. I plan to fine tune the EFI system, under load...I.E. while driving it with the stock distributor installed...and then when the EFI is debugged and working to our satisfaction, switch over to the EDIS ignition system. I'm mainly interested in the ITB/EFI system (the EDIS system is, for my purposes...secondary) and........I like to debug one system at a time.

Regards,

Al

PS: stay tuned for updates

Hey Brad
Winter weather getting to you? It sure is getting to me. I find myself looking forward to going to work.
It's a lot warmer in a nylon plant then it is at home.
I'm waiting for more info as well. I don't have to make any decisions yet as far as the intake is concerned, I probably won't get started till the fall on the rebuild but thats not so bad as the engine I have(2.2) works well, it just doesn't have the power I want.
I will use the time to read the forum (learning loads, thanks all) and buy parts I'll need for the monster motor I dream about.
Jeff

Al, what a fantastic thread! I hope to go down a route like this with my SC, so a fascinating read for an EFI novice like me. I have such admiration for those brave enough to take the first leap.
I look forward to your updates....

I agree, this thread has really gotten me pumped up about an EFI conversion (gotta love the look of ITBs too).

I know this is a DIY project so I'm not expecting a finished product, but how complicated do you foresee that it will be to fit it to the engine when finished and how much tweaking of the software will be necessary to get any specific engine to run well?

Keep up the good work!

/b

This is really looking like an exciting option for budget sensitive DIYer's. I just got a new iPhone and did a search for an MS App. It appears one is in the works for their latest rendition which uses a USB interface. Have you thought about the possibility of mounting the TB's directly to the heads and mounting a resonance intake from say a 964 rather then the stacks? I'm not sure MS has a method for controling the flap but I'm sure there's a way.

Keep up the good work!

Weekly bump for updates.

I know you may have more on your table with your new silver 3.2 car, but I'm still interested in the 2.7 ITB developments.

Wow, you beat me to it! This is a project I've had on the back burner for a while now for my 2.7. Really like the work you've done, it looks amazing! Can't wait to see when it's all done.
