Are you running fuel pressure through those plastic filters? If so, how much?

well................ what's enough? I don't expect to be spinning the tires in 3, 4 or 5. and those are the only gears I'll use it in. I have the baby CV's.

just dialed in the pressure to 6 psi. I know trhe plastics aren't the best but I like the diagnostic aspects of them.

I was listening to some of your videos of the car auto-crossing and really like the deep growl of the engine. I note you mentioned it has a Bursch exhaust. Is it this style, with the glass packs or a different style?

Thanks
it's a bursch but uses a regular muffler instead of glasspaks. to me the best compromise between noise and sound. the one on the car in the vids has had the muffler replaces with a BIG flowmaster stainless one. originally like this one.

well, I had to rebuild the plumbing rack. I had the solenoids out at the end and the lines wouldn't reach to the far side. it's a learning experience

engine running. no bottle yet. still need to fab the bottle base and run the n2o main supply line and a bit of wiring.

a completely gratuitious, needless, pointless, silly vid. just cuz I love the sound.

and when was the last time you saw one of these in a 1967 porsche 912?

Admit it.........you giggled like a schoolgirl, didn't you?

Do you have a bottle heater blanket? You might consider it. Keeping the bottle temp up will get you consistant usage. Purge the lines before each use as well.

it went pretty well. nothing too dramatic. tried in in fifth, then fourth, then third, then just a little tiny bit in second . not neck snapping or anything, although in second and third it feels pretty dramatic. seat-of-the-pants feels like about 60 - 70 hp. don't think it's much more than that, which is fine by me. did notice a bit of pinging in fourth and fifth, not too surprised as I'm running 9.5 compression. I did dial the timing back a couple of degrees. I'll do a little more tuning and get some better gas. maybe I'll spring for some dyno time next month and get some hard numbers. this car is so quick normally I find I get a bit jaded.

overall pretty happy. not something I'll use on a daily basis but just what I need for that edge at the drag track. I'm building a 3.2 stroker this winter to go in this car, I might dial back the CR a little bit, make it easier to get good gas and run this set-up more comfortably.

but mostly, let's be honest, it just looks wicked cool

note. between the tank certification place and the refill shop, someone dropped my bottle and bent the valve. the manager of the flaps ( Lordco, Canada only ) had them fill and send me a brand new tank. very cool. helps to have a good relationship with the local guys.

I see you are running MSD product, what about using an ignition retard that is activated when the nitrous switched on? You then wouldn't be stuck with a compromised setup off the bottle.

thank-you. I hadn't got that far in my, admittedly slow, thought process. after reading this I looked at the msd website and it seems like there's a couple of units that will do what I need and work with my 6AL. I won't be able to have it set up for sunday's drags but I can monkey the timing/mixture enough to get by for the weekend.

in a word...................... embarassing

driver error, big time. I only had the car out a couple of times on the highway. not nearly enough time for tuning and set-up. and certainly not much preparation for drag racing.

had some switching issues, when the nitrous came on I was pushed back in my seat, my foot lifted off the accelerator slightly, full throttle microswitch opened, car slowed, got back on the pedal. and repeat, and repeat. must have been entertaining to watch.

gear shifting is really giving me some grief. you just CAN'T shift a 915 quickly, at least I can't. and racing jitters make my shifting erratic at best. I pulled another of my patented 1-2-1-3 shifts I do have a four speed 901 box on the way, I find they seem to shift a little easier. we'll see. I want to go to a 4 box for this car anyway but can't for the life of me find a 915 four speed.

the car has everything it needs to clean up, except a decent driver. we'll see what happens next year.

as far as the nitrous, it works very well. I did have to wind back my timing 6 degrees or so. a fellow there suggested a very good idea. a separate one gallon fuel cell with race gas, or maybe straight toluene ( 114 octane ) to supply the fuel fogger. means I could leave my timing correct and still prevent the dt's on nitrous.

anyway. it's a learning/experimentation process. here are somw vids. please excuse the shaky camera, my daughter wasn't too steady today.

Retarded timing should give more power and efficiency due to less negative work being done on the piston as the mixture burns while the piston is on the compression stroke, if you can work out a sort of boost retard function.

MSD has a couple of options, an additional control that works with my 6AL to retard timing while spraying. or I may go to a 6AL-2 programmable. it has a 12V triggered retard as well, but I can lock my dist as the unit has a programmable dist spark advance. maybe the best option. makes better sense than adding even
MORE weight with an extra fuel tank, pump, regulator, etc.
