He mentioned that is was simply a flange on top of a cossover pipe and there is a 90 to the TC, but it does not look like that from the picture but rather each side is diverted to the TC. I just thought the pjv version is the same as the later pictures, but the diverting (?) or collecting portions are much shorter.

That pic above what you don't want to do unless you have the 2.7 and old style headers. Now where is the wastegate? The BAE addon for 2.7s that used that pipe used a spring loaded POP Valve in the turbo outlet pipe to control boost. It opened at the boost setting and dumped metered air out next to the number three plug.
Bad idea if you plan to run enrichment. Think fire! And that collector? No one in their right mind would pay to update to SSIs and then merge them like that. I wish I had a picture looking down into that flange without the turbo. It would be very clear what the problem is. For the 3.0 conversions, the cat was replaced with a Y pipe collector running to the turbo mount. That is the one I pictured on the previous page. Not only does the exhaust get a clean run to the turbo, everything is flowing in the same direction. And it is much much cheaper than bolting on fancy SSIs and the using a ghetto collector. So if you do it, do it right with a cat bypass Y pipe to the turbo, or put on SSIs and then you'll need a real nice collector like the two I posted. Big bucks and likely less or equal performance.

There is a picture in Bruce Anderson's 911 Performance Handbook of an "upgraded" exhaust system on a 930. It was a set of N/A SSIs.
You cannot see the cross over pipe in the picture so I don't know how that was handled. I do agree though that the "ghetto collector" pictured above is a bad design.

i was directed to this site from kurt who sold me a much needed 3.0 mahle cyl (thanx kurt)and spent the last 4 hours thoroughly reading it, alot of usefull info. i have a 73 targa thats now a all steel 930 wide body cab 19in simmons with a naturally asperated fresh 3.0 that broke a few head studs, ive replaced them with dilivar and dropped the comp ratio considerably by installing 3 .025 along with the stock .015 copper base gaskets on each cyl currently ive purchased a turbonetics t4 turbo, deltagate wastegate, hks super sequ bov, polished stainless 930 header, and a universal alum intercooler hard pipe kit,i just finished building a bar and plate intercooler and im currently working on a alum intake box to mount the thr body in a better loc for the hardpipes to reach along with housing the 7th injector & 6 port distributor previously used for cold starts which i will pressurize with a added boost line plumbed between injector and alum intake being activated with the mentioned hobbs switch. hopefully everything go,s as planned ( not like those exh studs that kicked my @$$) and took longer then anything else ive done on this car, anyway any tuning tips or input will be appreciated thanx

Man will this thread ever die ? For what its worth I ****canned my BAE system and bought a real C2 Turbo engine as a new project . Not that the BAE was junk .... It was just weak. My 2.6 makes more ponies than the 2.7 turbo did. It was fast though .

The BAE kit was what got my feet wet, I have also ventured from the original kit but learned a lot from this thread. I will be sporting C2 pistons and cylinders on my SC engine along with an intercooler and twin plugs. I stepped up to a K27 but have kept the bonnets and the 7th injector from the BEA kit and its modified form from Sutter.

Considering how hard it is to search some topics like SC or 3.0 I think its great to put so much info in one thread.
This thread started me in this direction...then I got lost! Twin turbos, IC's, ITB's and a new longblock so much for turbo on the cheap. Now it's just a big jigsaw puzzle to assemble ![]()

cis turbo
i hear you, i started out i was only going to replace a few broken head studs, then i decided maybe i would clean everything up and paint it nice before putting it back in which led to a new exhaust that routed me in the direction of a 930 exh and since i had a t66 turbo left over from another project (twin turbo 1400 rwhp mustang street car) i traded it of for a t4 that i could use on the porsche then i began fabricating a new sheetmetal (alum) intake after porting the stock heads only because i spent so much time drilling out every broken exhaust stud on a bridgeport,(why stop there) now i just finished my intercooler and im getting ready to bolt everything in so i can fabricate my hardpipes and figure out which direction i want my throttle body to face,at the same time im cutting the flanges off my $1500 header to replace them with t4 flanges and one for the deltagate,oh and i also replaced 4th gear, went to move the car the other day because of the snow storm coming in and found calipers were frozen or master havent got into it yet, if i spend 1 more dollar my wife is going to move all my stuff into the car along with me

Looks nice Ben. Now try and make the intake boots . Thats the real challange. Although a 3.2 intake will work without the boots.
