Hi Sylvester,
That is a compressor shaft seal leak. It is the main external compressor leak problem. It is common depending on age and condition. The compressor can be rebuilt or depending on its other problems it can be replaced with a new or rebuilt or updated compressor.
Good luck,
Dave

Is the compressor a stock York or an aftermarket?

I had this very same problem. I tried to replace the nose seal but compressor was shot. I bought a rebuilt unit on Ebay and it works fine. Cost was about $200.

Take the compressor apart to take a look see. Unless you are a super meticulous careful rebuild guru, you likely will just waste your time buying a seal kit. It is a real challenge to rebuild one and usually they have enough wear the entire compressor is junk anyway. They are not cheap, but not too crazy expensive.
