1.5 is correct however, you can use up to a 2.0. anything above will melt the bulb holders. The 1.5 and 2.0 normally are available at a good electronics shop or can be ordered through a dealer or maybe even thru pelican..
quote: -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Originally posted by toolboy62 can anyone tell me if the 1.5W bulbs are correct or if they've been replaced? A fairly knowledgeable lighting guy says that the only standard bulbs in that format are 3W or 5W. Although it wouldn't surprise me to learn that they're Porsche specific. nate go to Clarks Garage, and look up instrument light replacement. 5 watts melts the surrounds, 4 watts almost melts things, 3 watts is a wonderful comprimise, 2 watts is dimm, 1 watt is useless. I'm working on an LED system for my early 44 and I'll post something when I get info.

Last year, I tried to finish my "to do" list but I still have a couple of things on the list:
Replace belts, rollers, front seals, etc. Install spring centered clutch. Install 968 mirrors, door handles. Maintenance: flush & renew brake fluid/coolant/add freon. This is what I did last year: Detailed car top side, interior and undercarriage. Repainted header/test pipe. Redyed leather on front seats, steering wheel and shift boot. Replaced front speakers. Repaired power locks, passenger power window switch. Painted tailights w/red translucent paint. Replaced stone guards, some rubber trim pieces, painted rocker panels. Painted/installed 951 rear valence. Painted/installed 931 vented header panel. Installed 951 side skirt pieces. Polished 16" Fuchs, hubcaps, lugnuts. Polished engine pan, strut bar, engine bits. Installed Nology coil, new plug wires. Replaced coolant tank. Installed Potenza S-03's. R&R power steering rack, tie rods. Lowered rear ride height @ eccentric, aligned. Installed new power steering lines, reservoir. Replaced swaybar bushings. Removed OPRV, smoothed and replaced. Installed Koni rear adjustable shocks. Installed 18mm rear sway bar. Installed Zimmermann drilled rotors/new pads, painted hats & calipers. Installed SS brake lines. Installed short shift kit. Installed MOMO shift knob/boot on shortened lever. Removed MOMO knob and reinstalled OE shift knob. I enjoy tinkering with the car so I'll always have a to do list. After 20 years of ownership during which I bought & sold many other "nicer" cars, it remains my favorite.

Actually Z-Man, it woud be really cool if you got the neon to light up in unison with the bass thumps from your 5000-watt stereo.
![]() Seriously though, have any of you looked at the IceShark LED kit for replacing the instrument panel lights? Thar is probably the route I will go if I decide to replace my dash bulbs this summer (right now they are fine, just slightly dim).

I bought one of those neon lights at autozone a couple of months ago. The guy at the register saw my car out the window (I was the only one there) and said. "I hope this light is going no where near that car." I laughed and said no, it was for inside my bass drum. I wanted to see if I could get it to flash when i hit it.

WooHoo!! Here's my To-Do List for the newest member of family.
1) Fix passenger inside door handle. 2) Give him a bath, and a good wax and buff. Maybe paint him. 3) Rotate the tires..Shoulda been done ~60 miles ago 4) Clean it! 5) Put new mirror on passenger side 6) Order some oil filters, and change the oil. Bought some Pennzoil 10W30 Full Synthetic. 7) a. Replace air filter b. Replace spark plugs c. Replace cap/rotor 8) Replace Timing Belt. Dad and I are doing this one together. Water pump was just put in ~8K miles ago, or around 1.5-2 years. Should I do that, too? 9) Clean brake dust on my rims, and polish em up. 10) Fix/buy exterior trim pieces that are missing 11) Bleed brakes 12) Figure out why hatch doesn't like opening most of the time. Fix it. 13) Change diff/tranny fluid 14) New battery? Hmmm... 15) Take it to my brother to get a new radio/door speakers 16) Replace lights that are out in back 17) Paint calipers "Arrest Me Red" I think that's it for now... What I've done: 1) Got my headlights adjusted properly. 2) Got it starting consistenly. Let's see how many of those I can knock off the list in the next month or so... I love my 944. No, I haven't gotten it to work yet, it's too sensitive. It picks up the guitars and bass when we play. I need to take it apart and cover the microphone.

1. Figure out where the water, that puddles in the passenger rear foot area is coming from.
2. Fix number 1.

In no particular order...
1. Get car back from bodyshop (having dent repaired and rockers resprayed) 2. Remount 'turbo' badge 3. Have a couple of chips airbrushed, touch up other chips 4. Replace foglights 5. Replace rear cargo light 6. Replace glovebox lightbulb 7. Replace synthetic oil with dyno (tried to switch 500 miles ago, ended up with a leak right onto the headers )8. Replace fuel lines with Lindsey kit 9. Replace as many vacuum lines as possible without removing the intake manifold 10. Fix vacuum leak at boost gauge connection 11. Fix non-functioning A/F gauge (lost power while driving last week )12. Refinish phone dials 13. Replace cracked turn signal 14. Replace missing interior trim plugs 15. Put in H4s 16. Put in resister to dim boost gauge backlight to match my other dim interior lights (as my old man used to say, "you can raise the bridge or lower the river") 17. Have beer 18. Repeat
