As for the rest of you, you are a bunch of well trained monkeys...the Swiss have you brain washed with their idea of having you live your life by the tyranny of the clock. Which they mfg and sell by the way.

Yup. Those kind of folks get angry when called out on their rudeness because they don't want to face it.

My second job after school was in a large company, had to wear ID have a code and use ID to get in the door etc.. they Made Medical Lasers.
I was just a drafter there, I always made sure to be at my desk getting ready to start the day 10-15 minutes before start time. Sometimes if I was good to go I would just get started working. I noticed the dept manager would stroll through the room on the way to his office, he could take the hallway, he detoured and strolled through the Drafting / Design room at 7:50 every morning. After I was there 6 months I got a raise out of no where, my manager called me into his office and told me that his manager (dept manager) noticed I was always at my desk and working before the start time. He liked my ethic. I would go on to work in the land surveying world, I had a boss, if you were 1 minute late would dock you, and loose his mind over you being late, actually I had two like that both docked you 15 minutes pay for being a minute late. I used to commute 1 hour to the one job, the drive was 40 minutes but I left so I would have 20 minutes cushion. Some days there would be bad accidents detours etc.. Those would be the days I would get my pay docked. I hated both those bosses and now that I am a small business owner, I hate them more. We have no set time here, the other 2 guys that work for me are not morning people they start between 8:30 and 9:00 depending on when they wander in. I pay them 8 hours a day, if they can get done in 5 hours, they get paid for 8 hours, if it takes them 9 they get paid for 8 hours. Every day they are done in 5-6 hours. They hustle and get the work done. My receptionist is a single mom, I cannot imagine raising a kid alone and all the running around that entails I am so glad my wife and I were / are a team raising our kids. Her official hours are 9-5 with a 1 hour lunch. He daughters school schedule changed, she cannot get in until 9:25 now. So be it, what is the big freaking deal? She takes a 1/2 hour lunch now to make up for it, to be honest as long as she is on top of everything I am have no issue with her coming in late. I understand when you have clients that need appointments then being prompt is important. In my business we do not have any of that, so why create a problem? It is stressful enough I do not need to make more problems. Sorry for the long post, one of my first rules when I started my own business was I do not care about being perfectly on time every day. Just get here in a reasonable manner and get on with it.

^^^ How many does the plane hold
?I'll tell y'all how I "fired" a megabank after I'd been up all night keeping their whole worldwide operations fom being "down". Mgr (2 levels up with NO clue) made a serious mistake....I was already "there"....so... Queue up Johnny Paycheck ![]() Whe the systens/network AVP that has serious cred (and designed/implemented it all), suddenly exits.... It rattled a few cages....I watched from down the $treet....loved seeing then at lunch around town before the Titanic sank.... Bottom line....we are from different backgrounds, corporate, small biz, etc. totally different imo except for one thing.... Most folks on this board have figured "it" out...just using different strokes

In Los Angeles people are late all the tine. It is accepted.
I could care less if someone is late. Even on my boat a fishing trip if a guy is 30 min late NO BIG DEAL. Life is short and to have petty pet peeves is not worth it. Pet Peeves = Stress = Unhappy Life. |
