I will admit to the "remaining passive" group many times, but I've also defended the victim and sometimes lost (but also sometimes won).

I'd like to think that I've never followed a bully or been the bully myself, but you never know what other people think until you ask them, and their answers can be very surprising.

So to answer your question; FEAR

Fear can make someone join a group or do something to prove that they belong to that group.

Fear can also make someone NOT join a group, because they do not wish to have restrictions on their freedom and be forced into compliance and be dominated over.

Some people will only join a group if they can be the leader, again fear of being under someone else's thumb.

Name a person or group of persons and one can explain fear as the motivator if they wish to and work at it. It's not always apparent, but it's there.

Why do some people want harmony (Conflict Avoidance)? Fear, fear of being singled out and being victimized.

Why do some people want conflict (Combativeness), just too much testosterone? Fear, fear of being without, and having no rewards.

Maybe we are just wired to fight and cannot evolve above base animal instincts?

Well, first rid one's self of the idea that fear is a negative emotion, and only comes in a single form.

Fear is the thing that keeps us alive, it keeps the monkeys in the trees, but can also lead the monkey to venture onto the ground, sea and air.

We can call it ambition, but it's just a form of fear in my opinion.

Exactly! That's exactly how it works.

Again, The people without a moral compass aren't the root of the problem. The root is leaders and public figures that point a compass in the wrong direction, for personal gain.

People are weak, they are tribal, they can't make sense of their own world and play the victim. They follow any compass needle that eases their pain by inflicting pain on others. Inflicting pain is strength. It's community. It creates a focus for them to make sense of why they are where they are. People are weak.

Leaders exploit that weakness, they exploit their pain.

Leaders and public figures create boogeymen. They create enemies. Creating an enemy creates a shared experience with other like-minded individuals to fight against something. It creates a community. Communites are comforting and self-reinforcing. Many Americans, more than the greater human population, are more comfortable being against something than for something. It's easier. You don't have to think. A leader or public figure tells you who the enemy is and people bond around the fight against it. It's comforting. It gives you PURPOSE and EXPLAINS why you aren't where you want to be in life. Scapegoats are powerful concepts.

Enemies are easy to create. The community built to fight them are even easier to exploit.

For leader's and public figure's personal gain.

Viruses have had location based names for a very long time.
It is normal science.
Trying to not use a location based name is being anti-science.
Now what makes the Wuhan Virus special that so many take anti-science views about it?

anyways, i was met at the entrance, escorted out of a local mall here - for being white. "you go this is a Chinese mall". happened to two of my acquaintances as well ..... Richmond BC
racism has always been a two way street. contrary to popular opinion.

I have dual bachelor of arts degrees in bio and biochem. While science certainly helps you analyze, it's BofA degrees that help you think.

Without such degrees, you are at a disadvantage and more likely to follow a public figure's compass needle whichever way they want to point it.

Are people born with a specific DNA that determines whether they go to college and get a BA degree?

If so, we're making progress on how to engineer better people.

From what I understand Native Americans were divided into tribes. Not all tribes were "friendly" to each other.

Back then there was plenty of room in the country for everyone to spread out.

Much of the violence we are seeing is happening in highly populated cities. Conditions are crowded.

We have "territories" butting up against each other. This is one person's turf. Stay away or suffer the consequences!

The people in our country who are telling us to be nice to each other are in turn not being very "nice".

Kids need role models growing up.

Their parents influence first and foremost but also siblings and also schoolmates. Teachers and other adults - to some degree. A Scoutmaster more than a teacher, I would say.

I had an older brother and was influenced by him but also by some of his friends.

Kids are like freaking sponges!

At the end of the day a parent's influence though is unmatched.

Baz, people go to college whether BA or BS or trade school or no school at all for a variety of reasons, none of which, I believe, are rooted in DNA. Not a big fan of eugenics or a master race. Hitler tried it, didn't work out so well for him. And for a lot of other people as well.

As the only person in my entire family to go to college, I went because I had a passion for nature (at a young age) which matured into a strong interest in biology which matured into biochemistry. I would have gone into research but I am too impatient. I had to pay for the most of it myself, worked 40 hour weeks during junior and senior years of high school (during school) and my dad didn't even want me to go to college.

Anyway, that just illustrates people go to college for very complex reasons. Or maybe simple ones: they love carpentry or whatever.

My point is a bachelor of arts degree is the number one tool to help you develop complex critical thinking skills. I don't believe you learn how to think critically, as an adult, without one.

And you are therefore easy pickings for a compass needle pointed the wrong way.

I suspect it is just several very ignorant total cowards that attack a old Asian, they are typically small stature and old. For some reason they don't go after Sumo Wrestlers or large muscular men. They are just stupid cowards that think a old small person is an easy target.

Hatred and bias towards Asians have always been here. I was bullied all through school because of my strong accent, unable to speak English but kicked butt in Math. It’s tragic that people had to die before the country took notice. Frankly, I’m sick of all the focus on other non-white races.

IF this were true - that people are blaming and then punching lil old Asian ladies for the China Virus- THEN this would have started a year ago.

This directed violence is not likely an ignorance response (that would have happened long go - impulsive) but rather likely a planned response from well funded race hustlers.

There is ZERO doubt in my mind that we have well-funded forces working to divide us.
