Come to think about it, the same holds true for the COVID vaccine. Promote but don't make it mandatory.

He should have one of those hitch mounted racks to carry the Gereator.
Wouldn't have to stop along the road to charge.

I think those pushing the nation going all electric in a short time span are being unrealistic. Too many things to overcome to pull it off rapidly. Everything from the mining of the rare earth metals needed to the power grid upgrades required. At age 77, I'll let the youngsters deal with the world of 30 years hence. In the meantime, I'll keep on being an environmental sinner while enjoying my V-8 sound.

And there are several options. One of which, completely says goodbye to privacy as it taxes based on where and when you are. It would be the most "fair" way of taxing, but it would also give away much of our freedom. Some areas might redzone on taxes becoming prohibitively expensive to all but a few, etc... Not to mention the invasion of privacy. Less fair, but less invasive, tax by vehichle weight. Or just roll into being funded in some other way than user based entirely. Homeschoolers still pay school taxes, so yes, those that don't drive might think it unfair, but we already do such things. |

I'm ahead of the curve at work on EV batteries but at home my daily driver is 27yrs behind
I'm not entirely convinced EV's are the answer to a sustainable green future, to me people should be encouraged to keep the cars they have now for longer and drive less rather than exploit more and new resources from our planet to replace old with new without any change to peoples daily habits This idea of course won't gain any traction as it won't generate enough company profits or tax ![]() When my old Toyota hits 250k I plan to give it a full nut and bolt restoration so it can enjoy another 250k of life. Engine is diesel so I'm going to also explore running it on bio-diesel or recycled vegetable oil Not sure how environmentally sympathetic my approach is compared to buying 2 or 3 new EV's over the same time span but I'm pretty sure I'll do less overall environmental damage Anyway I like my old Toyota and can't think of anything newer or new I could replace it with that would do as good a job that my truck does for me.

Still no one is talking about how people love our F150’s , Chevy trucks? Honda CRV’s! Many people have very nice paid off late model cars and trucks. EV Ford F-150 costs a ton. The bare bones truck is $40,000. No one wants that one. The good version is over $50,000. Car insurance will not go down on a $50,000 electric SUV!!

I absolutely love my EV. It's by far the best daily driver I've ever owned. I will be replacing it with a Cybertruck or Rivian. I have no desire to go back to an internal combustion vehicle for daily driving.

The Ford only comes in 4x4 and according to Car&Driver only Super Crew cab. It will also have independent rear suspension. It's price is within a gnats azz of the base gas 4×4 Super Crew cab. Any tax credits make it cheaper. It has a lot more functionality for a contractor looking for employee work truck.
Ford knows what they are doing. Along with the 2022 E Transit they are going to sell a boatload to the commercial community. |

I'm very happy it works for you. I don't want the govt to mandate me getting an EV any more than you want them to mandate you buy a gas engine car.

Just checked a few major manufacturer's websites and somewhere between 90 to 100% of their offerings are all gas powered.

You don't think indy shops will adapt?

The cost to keep up with the proprietary software will force most of them out.

What keeps them from being forced out now? Plenty of ECUs and OBCs already.

The indy shops already have that problem. It might be just as easy to diagnose an ev than a turbo motor with a gazillion switches, valves, and electronics. No tranny to mess with.. Mechanical will be the same.

The writing is on the wall for ICE vehicles. They are 20% of our overall carbon emissions and low hanging fruit in the push to slow climate change. Honestly, I think if many of you who dislike them (why?) tried them, you’d be pleasantly surprised.
