Not totally sold on that idea. They've spent too much time building to this, i get the sense that there's something larger coming and she has a integral part to play in it. I kinda think she'll be back........

If she is gone, then the show REALLY has jumped the shark. Killing off or changing a main character is a classic symptom of Jumping the Shark.

Think M*A*S*H after Col. Blake died.

However, I really DOUBT she is dead. The writers can't be that lame. No build up that takes episodes to resolve? No massive dogfight where she shoots up 100 Raiders before going down in flames to protect Sam/Apollo/Adama?

No locker room fight with Athena/Six/Pres?

C'mon. They can do better than that!!!!!!

Besides, they keep talking about her destiny. So her destiny is to die uselessly? Again, that would clearly be lame scripting.

While I don't think she is either dead or a cylon, I can see how they would kill her.

She wasn't the main character.

She is so depressive and beat up, there isn't much you can do with that kind of character after a while. It is just like killing Marrissa on the OC. Who cares, the best they could do is put her through rehab.

I wonder if the population count will be 41,399 next time.

Frack!

I think they sprung Starbuck going crazy on us very suddenly. There was no foreshadowing in previous episodes. All of a sudden she goes off the deep end. They broadcast her death with the scene in the memorial hall, but that doesn't cut it. I haven't really kept track of which writers do different episodes, but it really seems like they don't talk to each other much, and different people want to take the show different directions. I'll give it a few more episodes, but this show is getting close to losing me.

I just listened to the podcast. Ron Moore really loves Ron Moore.

Unless he is trying to be funny, they just killed her and are starting the final act of the series.

With the move to Sunday night, that was my feeling, all along.

If the pre-season stuff verbage is to be believed, then isn't the end of the show, finding earth?

Move to Sunday night = step closer to the door. Remember when it happened with "The X Files"? God that pissed me off something awful. . .

If it weren't for TiVo, I'd have stopped watching but fortunately there is TiVo and the show continues to interest me enough to record it.

Still the best how on TV today. And, dare I say it, still my favorite scifi show of all time. I'm not jumping ship just because the writing's on the wall...

BTW: they are looking into a new prequel series called Caprica that will chronicle the first cylon war -- perhaps Ron D. Moore is gearing up to phase out Galactica and ramp up Caprica...

IIRC, that is when the show moved from investigating odd, unrelated incidents to being about some mass conspiracy theory. It's also when I stopped watching.

......aside.

Where did the newer Viper Apollo was flying come from?

Was it as spikey looking as the top of the line fighters which were all destroyed in the opening sneak attack which started the series?

He always had it. It was his from the opening movie. Also, we can probably assume that the Pegasus Air Wing did not die with Pegasus.

BTW: If Starbuck is dead and they pull one of these "Stargate-Daniel-Jackson-is-dead-but-still-shows-up-every-episode-as-a-ghost-flashback-dream-things"....I'm gonna vom.

That would be the pinnacle of lameness on a mountain of lame writing this season.

Another episode...no cylons...no action. Looks the same for next week.

I'm done.

Last night was a fun watch if you had nothing better to do, but it was a blatant rip-off of the Saddam Hussein trial. I hope their writers aren't going on a mental vacation. . .

I'm curious about Romo though. His motivations seem less-than-noble.

I re-watched the Starbuck episode and I have a theory....

Starbucks mom was in the first Cylon War. She was a cylon host mother. Starbuck is an early generation cylon-human hybrid. She has a "destiny" with the cylons because she is partially one. She didn't "die", she ejected and was scooped up by the cylon ship. It didn't look like a raider, it looked like a cylon transport. Plus, it was real. Apollo saw the ship in front of Starbuck.

Starbuck and Baltar are early generation Cylon-Human hybrids. They are the only ones doing "projection", like the rest of the cylons. They have to be partially human, or they would not have survived the cylon plague and they would have had problems in the armorment station in the Original mini-series.

redbeard, I've had a similar theory.

I noticed there is no mention of a father with Starbuck. Maybe the mother "snatched" her from a Cylon hatchery (or whatever they have)?

Or maybe she escaped from one, and was "with child". Who knows, maybe Baltar came about the same way. Mother was "in the war".

That would be interesting if there are already several hybrids. Hera would not be the first, but one of many...

I noticed they removed Katee Sackhoff from the credits and reduced the "head count" at the beginning of the show by one.

That is the type of attention to detail that makes the show interesting for me.

Still, I'm curious as to how Starbuck's destiny will play out. Personally, I don't believe she's a cylon or a hybrid.
