Jerome didn't pick the wrong team, he picked the team that has the best chance of winning the cup. Rumor from Cowtown is, given the choice, JI would sooner play with May than that rat Marchant. Marchant reminds me of Ken Linesman because of his rat face and he plays like Claude Lemeiux, cheap, dirty and just like CL, when the going gets tough and he has to pay for his cheap shots, he turtles.

There are definately "Reputation penalties". I've seen Holmstrom stay outside of the paint and yet get called many times. He has made a great living down in front being right on the edge of what is legal (and does it very well). Hey, if you aren't getting called once in a while you aren't trying hard enough.

Oh but wouldn't it be so so sweet if the B's knock out the Pens and go on to win the cup. The best revenge is winning.

Wow, what a compliment. He's also been called the "Little Ball of Hate". I'm sure you know where the origins of that name comes from. Lest we forget; Gordie, Terrible Ted, Bobby Clarke, Brendan Shanahan (the irony of his new job still makes me chuckle) even goalies like Ron Hextall (and dare I say to a lesser degree Tim Thomas who challenged Price when he was down almost 1/2 foot in height and 20 pounds)! ... were all mean SOBs on the ice but greatly admired for their skill.

If you want to talk instigator then lets talk about Tiger Williams, he would back his chippy play, he never turtled and regularly fought the toughest guys in the league, unlike "little balls, that's fate" (fixed it for ya)

When Chicago's apparent go-ahead goal was disallowed - I was sure the "President's Trophy Curse" had struck again. For us Canadian viewers, once again we had to suffer Bob Cole's horrendous play-by-play - a brutal announcer. No más. Should be an interesting quarter finals given they are the last 4 Cup winners. I guess the Hawks (best uniform in hockey) are my team now, although I was pulling for Detroit last night.

Sounds like Matt Cooke who ended Mark Savard's career with a dirty hit and all he got was a few minutes in the sin bin but everyone thinks he's all that and a bag of chips.

Yeah Lemieux played rough. So do a lot of players.

That's really amazing to me and pretty awesome. And actually the last 5 teams alive where the last 5 cup winners, (Red Wings). Be curious if that has ever happened in the other 3 major sports.

Yeah Cooke was dirty but to his credit he has changed his game. Is he still intense & physical? Yup. But he has actually become a better all around player.

Cooke is a lot closer comparison to Lemieux than Marchand ever will be! He has already delivered a lot more season ending (and career ending) injuries than Marchand will in his lifetime.

People just don't like March because he agitates the H3ll out of you and still scores points.

Two fantom interference calls, a 5 minute major against the Bruins that wasn't called, (the same thing Cooke got tossed for), 3 posts and 1 through the crease. Hockey Gods, (and refs), not shining on the Pens so far.

Malkin beating up Bergeron: gee I'm not impressed-look at the size difference and Bergeron has to protect his head (not to mention the low class move of Malkin by continuing to try to fight after Bergeron was down on the ice.

phantom interference calls: you must have watched a different game than me. I challenge you to show me video of a phantom call. I saw a lot of blocking (and yes I saw one the B's got away with also).

On the other hand, I have to admit, I don't know what impressed me more:
a) how overwhelmingly the Pens dominated the B's or,
b) what a clean player the "new and improved" Cooke was. He looks like the same old dirty player he's always been.

Marchand's hit was not totally square in the back like Cooke and his hit didn't look premeditated like Cooke's was.

I wanted to see Chara beat the piss out of Crosby....

Hawks played a disciplined game and the final score showed that. Kings have to find some O-ffense, (said in my best Canadian accent again). :D As good as Quick is he will let 2 goals in now and then like yesterday. And right now it's all that's needed to beat the Kings.

I stand by my predictions AND my assesment of last night's game (I don't see you refuting my challenge to prove your phantom calls nor do I see anyone defending Matt Cooke today).

Do you think Cooke's check was clean? Do you think it is honorable to continue fighting when a player goes down on their back on the ice (there is a code-even in hockey)? Do you think that Bergeron had a "fighting chance" (pardon the pun) against Mongo Malkin (who by the way is also a very skilled player)?

He won't touch him unless Crosby starts the fight. If Chara came after him everyone would crucify him for picking on the golden boy.
