Anyone but the Pens... please anyone.
I'll suck it up and route for the dam Rangers if I have to please let it be anyone but the Pens. There is a lot to like about Edmonton but I don't think they're seasoned enough to make it all the way through the tourney. If I had to pick a team I wanted to win I would go with the Ducks, the Sharks, the Preds or the Blues. Do I think any of those teams can win? Not really. In the west, I have to believe the Hawks go to the finals. In the east, Pens or Caps if I had to guess. I can't write off the Habs or the Rangers either just because they have Price and Lundy in between the pipes. As long as its an entertaining tourney and the Pens don't win I'll be satisfied. |
East:
Toronto will show well but not enough experience I expect them to go to the 2nd round. Normally I would say the team to beat is the Caps but there is the Ovi Curse. I think they have the best chance yet so maybe this is the year they will break it. West: The Wild have fallen apart at the worst possible time. They may have a miraculous resurrection but I wouldn't count on it. Chicago is not the invincible foe they once were but there are enough players with rings on their fingers so I would guess they would be the one to beat in the west. Would anyone like to create a "friendly" NHL Bracket Challenge on the NHL website and we can see how we do? Would probably need at least a handful to make it interesting. |
Other thoughts:
As the standings are now... I think the Bruins/Sens games will be a crash and bash series worth watching (even if you aren't an anointed Bruins fan) ;) If they can make it past the first round I think they will go to the Eastern Final. Like the above, the Rangers/Habs should be a great series to watch. The Rangers won't be a force to fear since Henry has had issues lately. I think he is playing hurt. I'd love to see the Bruins and the Pens meet in the Eastern Final. I'll let you decide what I think the B's should do to Cindy and her pals. |
Any original Six match up will be good but man an O 6 final would be awesome.

OK. I started a league. I'm not sure if you can just join it, I did make it private. I guess two ways to join. If you want you can PM with your email address and I can invite or send me a PM and I can give the name & password to join.
Playoff are set team wise but Boston/Toronto still need positioning decided. |
PM sent.
C'mon boys. Step up and lets see who calls it. |

Flames are going all the way....
Or they will be out in the first round. Would love to see the Flames and the Oinklers duke it out for the Western Semi. Some of these teams have a lot of young and untested talent. It will be really interesting to see how they react to playoff pressure. Be a few scraggly looking young fella beards this year! |

It's now or never for the Caps - sentimentally - of the Canadian teams - the Flames - although the odds are pretty long against. All the signs are there for some enjoyable quality hockey for the next while.

Go Anaheim!!!

O.K. no surprise that everyone has an opinion. You need to sign up for the Playoff Bracket Challenge league that Buckterrier started (see post from Sunday).
It cost nothing and there is no wagering. Let's see just how good you are. I'll be putting my predictions in Tuesday. Step up and show us what you got. |
