The whole problem with this plan is that it also slowed the Bruins down. I love it (sometimes) when a plan backfires!!! Hawk quite literally had NO "quit" in them. Two goals within 17 seconds? Are you kidding me?

This has definitely been the best Finals I have ever watched! Hats off to BOTH teams, but there can only be ONE 2013 Stanley Cup Champions!!!

See you guys in October :D

Unreal night in Chicago. Great series.

Ahhh, I had one prediction right. The hockey gods were a fickle bunch this season. They laid their hands on the Maple Leafs, the Pens, (yes the Pens were the better team against the Broons), and finally the Broons themselves. Two goals in 17 seconds with less than two minutes left in a Stanley Cup final elimination game. The gods shined on the Blackhawks. I still say the best final would have been the Pens & Hawks. Talent against talent, speed against speed. No worrying about ice shenanigans!

As amazing as triple overtime was in Game 1, this has got to be the MOST unreal event(s) of this entire series! After the first of the 2, I was still in the process of getting myself ready for another OT game when the second one hit. DAYUMMM!!!

It was surreal. The GF and I had an errand to run, but were waiting out the clock to leave, score was 1-2. Chicago scores making overtime seemingly inevitable. As a somewhat tolerant woman might do, she decides she wants to roll, assuming it's going to be a long night. I told her I'm not leaving, adios. Before her Chicago born self gets to the car, with her two Chicago born children in tow, I run out the front door yelling "Goal!!".

Por_sha911 06-26-2013 06:43 AM

Congrats to the Blackhawks. They earned it. The B's were playing hurt and tired and didn't have enough in the tank (or health) to play the level of hockey it takes to hoist the cup. When the Hawks scored the tying goal I actually shut the TV off (I know this was the borderline unpardonable sin but in my heart I already I knew the B's were done) :( You could see how worn out Chara, Berg, Jagr, Marchand were. I went upstairs to check the local news online and saw the headline the Hawks won. I didn't expect the end to be that quick. Oh well.

Buck: I apologize for hurting your feeling by suggesting that we start a new thread for the 2013 Cup finals. I thought it odd that we kept the same thread thru 4 years of cups and figured we could do a new one each year. I didn't expect you to take it personal.

I'm sure many are happy that the Bruins lost because they smacked down their fav team in the playoffs. Enjoy yourselves now because the Bear will be back this fall. :p

mattdavis11 06-26-2013 09:08 AM

Don't be so hard on yourself, after all the Bruins did win the College World Series.

mikesride 06-26-2013 07:54 PM

Yeah, I was cheering for Boston, but the speed Chicago had was just too much for them. The playoffs where good enough to ALMOST make me remember how I said I was so made at the lockout that I wasn't going to watch!!!!;)

Por_sha911 06-26-2013 08:03 PM

Chicago had the same speed as the Pens but they Bruins had more rest and better health.

My feelings weren't hurt nor did I take it personal. I don't know of any threads started over because a thread becomes old, no matter who started it. No harm no foul.

The Pens tried beating the Broons at their game. Obviously that didn't work. They actually out hit the Broons in a game or two. Chicago played their game for the most part and that's why they won the series.

Found out today that Bergeron played game 6 with a punctured lung also?? Tough or nor very bright?

flatbutt 06-27-2013 04:18 PM

I am stunned that this didn't go 7. But absolutely a phenomenal series, Well done to both sides and congratulations to Chicago.

There are numerous one year (or one race) posts like:

This one was started by you just for the 2012 year:

All that behind us, it will be interesting to see what 2013-14 looks like. A lot of buyouts going on...

And a cracked rib(s). And a separated shoulder. He didn't die, so I will choose 'tough'.

Oh no doubt... in the short term. You have to give him all the credit in the world. Was thinking long term also.
Hokey players are the toughest, (rugby dudes have an argument), athletes in the world.

Por_sha911 07-06-2013 01:50 PM

Wow. Isn't Jerome Iginla a great guy?
What in the world are the Bruins thinking? Do they think he will be able to get along with the team after the way he snubbed them a few months back?
Maybe they are rewarding him for deflecting in the series winning game 4 goal.

In other news, Matt Cooke moves out of Pittsburg. Bubye.

And Alfie left the "Garage"...

I thought he would have pick Boston for a real good shot at the cup. Mind you Detroit has a lot of "Swedes" going for them.

Thanks Hawkeye, I hadn't seen that but I like it. I think Gillis days are numbered, I'm still in shock over the Schneider trade, and now Jerome's a Bruin, what's gonna happen next? What's the skinny on Horton?

Dear Board

I have no doubt that Vinny and Ray are the missing links for the Flyers I expect them to be the odds on favorite for the cup next year.

Sincerely,

A. Nother Yearwithnocup
