Also, your juvenile cheap shot at me being a Christian is out of place. |
Yes, the Rangers gave one away or, if you are a Sens fan you could say they took the game away from them...
Exciting to watch. The Preds aren't as dominating as in the first round but still leading 2-1. The Ovi curse seems to be holding steady. |

You have a very unhealthy hate for the man. Heck you wouldn't even make a side bet on our brackets that you would stop calling the man 'her'. Juvenile cheap shot? You claimed years ago you are a Christian. Christians don't hate Christians love their fellow man. You are like my brother. Talks the talk but doesn't walk the walk. Every other post you throw a VERY juvenile cheap shot at the best hockey player on the planet because of your hate. I wouldn't doubt you jumped for joy at the cross check that very likely put Sid out of the playoffs. And of course you'll cry favoritism when the c)#*S*#%@r get a game or two suspension. You're truly a bore Joe. In 11 years on this board I've never put anyone on ignore... until now. This is a Stanley Cup thread not a hate a hockey player thread you try to make it. I won't see your hate posts any longer SmileWavy |

Game is getting a bit out of hand. Hopefully doesn't turn into a penalty fest! |
Incredible game tonight. It looks bad for Crosby. He has a history of concussions and I suspect he is not coming back any time soon. Even though I don't like Crosby and don't want the Pens to win, I don't want to see them lose because of an injury like that. If he doesn't come back it either means the team will rally behind "win one for the gipper" or they will lose the balance and depth they needed to move forward.
So will the Rangers rally with their win and tie it up Tuesday or does anyone think its just a matter of when and not if they get knocked out? In the meantime, how about them Preds? The win my vote for longshot to bet on this year (not that I am a betting man). |
Yeah man Crosby really took a tough hit.
As for the Rags...well the whole roster needs to pick it up but Lundy really needs to play better. They have a good shot at winning number three but I'd bet that they lose 4 and 5. |

Indeed. A series of unfortunate incidents. Watching the slo-mo replay it seems clear to me that Niskinens hit was a reaction more than an intentional hit. He is none the less responsible for his stick so he gets the penalty. As for Ovie, well the case can be made that he instigated the whole thing. For the league to ignore his actions is wrong IMO.

Crosby is a great player and a great big *******. He severs an opponent's finger on an intentional vicious slash, the NHL officials all stick their fingers up their collective a$$e$ and do nothing about his dirty cheap play. He is a gifted player who acts like a Karnt, I dislike such athletes. Hope Trotz can rally his team and continue to advance.

As usual, there were howls from fans calling for a lynching but surprisingly, the NHL didn't do any supplemental punishment. The video above pretty well says it all. I hope Crosby is feeling better really soon and he is cleared for playing golf in about a week. |

And just to clarify for the haters, I mean that I hope the Pens lose.
Tonight's game should be quite a match. Even though the Pens will not be "out to get" Niskanen, you know the energy/adrenaline will be dialed up to max for both teams. For Niskanen's sake I hope that this doesn't end Crosby's career like Matt Cooke (of the Pens) did to Marc Savard <iframe width="640" height="360" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/0Z1vJrIAg-0" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> |
I don't think a reasonable case can be made claiming Niskanen did it purposefully but as you know payback doesn't need a reasonable case. But if I were Ovie I'd be watching my 6.
|
My question is simple; does anyone think that Niskanen would have reacted exactly the same way if it was a team-mate sliding into him? If OV slid across the crease in Crosby's place would Niskanen's stick have contacted his head with the same force?
Not sure if anyone mentioned it, but watch watch the OV's right foot in the slo-mo replay. That's not an accident. A player in a vulnerable position should not be hit in the head unless it is 100% unavoidable. The risks are simply too high, that needs to be the culture. Interesting the Fleury had 'Nisk' on his helmet (as a 'friend from teams past)' then covered it up with tape before game four. Or did Crosby put the tape on? Cue the annual Ovechkin golf club image... |
At the end of the day - this whole incident may or could be attributed to all the bullsch1t stick-work going on and its seemingly tacit approval by the league especially come playoff time. It is not my intention to censure or criticize any individual as I have witnessed some egregious fouls by some of my favourite players (some of said fouls were highly cringe-worthy) but to call out the brain-trust running the show.
We could do with a little less "hackin'& whackin" - in my opinion. You can't legislate it out of existence but the game will not suffer if the message is sent out; stick-work infractions will & should be called tighter. A lot of us have played 'beer league' hockey & save for a few extreme cases, stick-work never seemed to be a real issue once the boys got the message. Just sayin...... Cheers JB |
