You got me on my slip up, I of course meant 1200 pounds heavier than the 911. But they said the 918 was 3758 pounds, P1 3411. I assume that is with driver. In that case my 911 is about 2200 with fuel and me. If those weights are empty then the 918 is getting close to twice as heavy as my car.

I realize it's got way more power but 3758 pounds is way too heavy! I guess the Weissach package is a little lighter- wonder how fast that would be?

Hey guys. sorry I have been in and out, but the new job has me less behind a computer and more hands on engineering/chemistry. Hopefully I can pick up a few classes in the future and actually get my engineering certificate. Just a BS in chemistry at the moment and it sounds like the company might help out with that.

Ouch, Thuy bumped a curb in the escape and punctured the sidewall of a tire. Looks like it's going to be about $250 for tire.

When Richard bumped the curb in the Cayenne it didn't hurt the tire, but did bend the rim. Costed $180 to get the rim straightened including the tow to the shop.

I have been having problems with my cable TV signal for a while now. I call tech support and they go through the standard thing of restart the box the send signals and it really never fixed anything. This Tuesday they were supposed to send a tech to me house from 5:00 to 7:00 to look at things. He was a no show. I call and they apply a $20 credit to my account and reschedule him for Wednesday same time frame. Another no show. Another $20 credit on my account. Reschedule for Thursday. I explained to the lady I was REAL DANG tired of this and maybe a supervisor or someone that really knows what they are doing would be a good idea. Last night they sent two of the senior techs and a supervisor. The brought in a all new temporary cable feed from the street. If that fixes the problems they will send out the digger crew to bury it. That will be a challenge with my sprinkler system. It has a spray head every 8 feet and a web of supply pipes. They will be doing a lot of hand digging.

Max, no one ever will argue a light car is better for the track. It is a simple inarguable fact. Jack's video of his car at the track vs the new GT3s and his old tech light car cornering at faster speeds than a state of the art heavy GT3 is solid proof.

The big difference of the 918 is it is so very fast yet gets over 70 MPG in normal driving and has AC, leather and a full sound system. You car is great for California short trips but only a masochist would drive it from your house through Needles, CA and over to Death Valley and on to Phoenix, AZ in July then down to Miami, Florida.

I'm pretty sure a Lotus Elise (when they were able to be sold here) could have AC speced and a radio and it was about the same weight as my car (US version).

The Alfa 4C is pretty light as well, though the US one is way heavier than the Euro version.

Or a Boxster Spyder is under 3000 pounds which is in the right direction.

Miata is in the 2400 range I believe and can be had with AC and stereo and all the safety stuff.

Yep. And they are LITTLE bitty cars. My 914 was close to 2,000 lbs. I drove the Tesla roadster that was based on the Lotus. I was shoulder to shoulder with the passenger, actually touching shoulders. I had to put on and wear that car not get in it.

It is comforting to know modern cars have a big heavy beam in the door and in the bumpers and crumple zones. Of course any modern car by law has to have airbags, ABS, tire pressure monitors and now even backup cameras!

But none of those have a battery pack. Unless there is a new Li-Air battery the battery weight will suck for some time.
