Get off my lawn!

Well back when I was a kid and rode my bike everywhere I thought I was pretty good.
I never even dreamed something like this was possible. Just nucking futz. Watch the entire thing to see some whoopsies and out takes.

Well,THAT didn't go the way I thought it would.
![]() I spent the last 2 nights in the hospital! My first time as a patient since 5th grade. The laptop was being repaired and I couldn't figure out how to post on my phone. The laptop is back as am I. So, I get the CT scan done Monday at 2pm. Waited around for the results and was told to get to the ER right away. WTH?!!! Called backup to take care of the kids and puppy. On the way to the scan place the throttle on the Suquinox stuck WFO as I was merging on to the freeway. Stayed calm and turned the key back to kill the engine, moved the trans to neutral and coasted to the side. It seems that in my haste and aggravation of having to go to the ER I must have pushed the pedal just enough MORE to wedge it against my plastic floormat. I fixed it and got on my way again. Wifey meets me there and I get checked in, stillnot having any idea what is wrong. The scannery place sent a CD of my gut to give to them. ER doc comes in and tells me I have Diverticulitus and I'll be spending a few days with them. They hooked me up to IVs for anti-biotics. They tried to give me Morphine but I told them to keep it. I really was not in pain. All of the folks that came in couldn't believe that I was not feeling extreme pain. No food or liquids since I walked in their door so that meant I had only had some pizza on Sunday and ONE cup of coffee Monday until this afternoon when they approved jello and a popsicle. Told me I was now on a low fiber diet. My nurse at the time ordered supper which was roast beef, carrots, potatoes of some sort and strawberry shortcake. Hmmm, this might not be so bad afterall. I have some meds to take for a few more days and need to follow up with my PCP next week. They did another scan this morning and it looked better so no surgery, at this time anyway. I was getting a bit worried because the staff were almost too nice. Everybody was really cool and I had a private room. Anyway I'm back home to the zoo that is my family.

I know Jim and thanks.
Boy, it sure was quiet at the hospital. Even when they woke me up every few hours to take vitals and change the IV bags. Discovered this Jack Reacher character while I was in. Pretty cool stuff. I had some pretty awesome nurses taking care of me, too. No, they were not smokin' hot nor did I take pictures. Some were guys and they were cool, too. Funny story: Wifey and I were in the ER temporary room and the surgery group showed up to discuss the options. The main doc was a young female with a male resident following her. She took the lead and asked me a zillion questions and pushed around here and there. She then advised that she has to perform a rectal exam. yay I sent my wife out and SOMEONE did the deed. I honestly don't know which one. ![]() No issues and I started to roll back over from my side. My drawers were still half down with everything right there. She never stopped talking to me so I just stayed in that position listening to her not sure if I should pull 'em up and interrupt her. I didn't move until she stopped talking. Talk about an awkward situation!

I lost all of my pictures and videos on the laptop disc as well.
Is there ANY way to retrieve them? I have the disc.

Wayne, glad they did not cut ya up. Will medication and other changes fix you up? I hope things "come out ok" without pain.

Wayne, been there done that. That's why I asked if you were awake.
My doc sent me straight to ER for the CT. So no travel between. And the rectal exam I got is more commonly referred to as a colonoscopy. And they did surgery before they let me out. Had been having the diverticulitis pains for 2 years and doc kept telling me I must have eaten something that didn't agree. Finally got bad enough to run a very high fever and all the sudden it was a big deal. There is disk recovery software. It's been a while but recovered some stuff off a drive with it. If it's really important I've also used Drive Savers. You ship the disk to them with an extra drive and they put everything on the good drive.

Now that I had time to process this I did have some pain over the past couple of years but blew it off as something I ate. This would explain the sickness and flu like issues on Sunday.
They think it was detected early enough where I don't need surgery but didn't rule it out for the future. I have to follow up with my primary and then go from there. Of course, I figured it was an infection from the V but it has no connection. The ER doc said "If he went in THAT far he didn't do it right!".

Told me the part they removed had pockets prone to getting diverticulitis. Discovered it with the colonoscopy. During the colonoscopy he woke me up enough to show me and talked about me having pockets causing the problems where most people had polyps. Said if I had polyps he could cut them out during the colonoscopy. Said just that section seem to be prone to the pockets and the rest was okay. Honestly all I could tell in the videos he was showing me is that some parts were inflamed looking, I didn't see any pockets.
When he told me about cutting the polyps out he explained it cauterizes as it cuts it out. Then I commented that since they used gas to inflate my colon to see everything wouldn't cauterizing make it explode! They thought that was pretty funny. Then I said I was happy I did't have any polyps so I wouldn't blow up and went back under. When I woke up in recovery from the colonoscopy the anesthesiologist came in and asked if I remembered being woken during the procedure. Told her I just barely remember them showing me pictures on the screen and me asking if they were going to make me explode. She got all upset and said that she had asked if I was awake and I said I was cognizant. I asked if I actually used the term cognizant and she said yes. I said I didn't even know I knew that word.

When I get the butt-ocks camera in a few weeks they will know more and surgery might be required.
Can you eat your favorite foods Richard? They gave me roast beef for supper s I figure meat is probably ok. My Mom and oldest sister surprised me Tuesday. Mom got really worried when she saw the heart monitor. She wasn't satisfied that it was ok until my nurse came in and explained that it is normal for patients with abdominal issues.

Not dietary restrictions, just added fibre. Drink a glass every morning like orange juice. Said he liked the stuff you mix with water cause it makes sure you get enough liquids with it.

I have to take the Hankster to the vet for checkup as well. He slept all night last night as well. I told my wife about the clock trick but we don't have one so she didn't try it whilst I was gone. Today I need to get the house back in order. Pretty sure a tornado hit at some point. Jeez.

Morning all. Golly you sure now how to party Wayne!
The hospital I was in for my hip replacement was very quiet. It was brand new and had only been open a few months. I asked the nurse one afternoon how many patients are on the floor for her and se said there were just 5 patients on the entire floor. I had great nurses. Like your experience, none of them were playboy material but I did not care what they looked like, I just wanted professionalism and I got it.

You know, it seems every time I have this little niggling thing that bothers me someone comes along and puts it all in perspective.
For instance, I had to change the A/C compressor in the truck over the weekend and moaned and complained about having to work on the truck again. The guy that works for me comes into work and said he was leaving the house when he heard a loud bang and chunks of metal flew out in front of his car from underneath and a huge slick of fluid behind him. It was still running on a couple cylinders so he turned around and got it home. He had to borrow th in-law's car but it leaks steam out of the heater core into the cabin so he had to drive with the window down. We had some light rain this week.

Finally having that last piece of pizza that my wife made Sunday. mmm, still just as good.
I cleaned the house today and made appointments for puppy and myself. As I was looking through my discharge papers I noticed that the doc had marked the box "no driving". Oops. I drove myself home last night. I called his office and he said he forgot that I DIDN'T have surgery so that wouldn't apply. I was on the general surgery floor so that makes sense. Mr. Puppy was chipped when we got him so I registered him under our/his name and got the lifetime membership. The chip would explain the extra performance he seems to have sometimes. ![]() Later dudes, I have to go pick up my son.
