Since I don't know everyone's position relative to the position of the sun...ie morning, evening, day, night, etc.

Greetings upon ye one and all.

Decided to get an LG ultrawide 38in monitor, 3840 x 1600. My current 27" monitor is 2560 x 1440. The only drawback is the ultra has speakers but no camera or microphone like my 27. Guess will need find something to fix that.

My monitor is the 4K display. It is 3840x2860 and I love it. I just wish I could find a 4K monitor in a small size. My other monitor is 18 inches wide and if I drag a window over to that monitor I have to reduce it a lot in size, and then drag it over. The change in resolution is annoying. For some reason the only 4K displays are 27 inches and up, unless I get a laptop. Those have great high res displays.

As soon as I can find a 4K monitor that is 17 or 18 inches wide, I will buy it. That is all the space I have on that side of the desk.

It is back into the air for me this afternoon. The good news is the cold front came through. It will 15 degrees cooler than last week, still in the 90s, but not 107. I may need my jacket.

Resolution and document window sizes is why i decided to go with and Ultrawide over a 4K, or even 2 monitors. Same pixels per inch I have now with more area. Often work in multiple documents so interested in more width rather than just a bigger screen or more resolution. Don't have room for 2 separate monitors of any size either. Hopefully I am over changing scale to make everything display bigger so I can see it.

My business partner has a neat setup. It is two 30 inch curved screens side by side. It is very immersive looking at the displays with multiple things going on. He is using our 128 gig ram, sysyem with two high end video cards. We can run 8 monitors off of that system as is. We would have to wall mount them or put them on swing arms or something but it would be cool. The only way I can add more monitors is to mount them to the expensive piece of furniture desk I use. Mrs Carrera ain't gonna like that idea. Maybe I can poke hole in the wall and mount a swing arm type monitor holder.

All that may have to wait for the day we get so big we have an office, and then we have to commute, and pay for an office. It is NOT in the immediate plans, and is a long way off.

Morning all.

AutoCAD went to the 4k support system. Now all the cheep monitors here look like the tool bars were drawn with crayons.

Yea, it is funny how some programs have yet to fully embrace the 4K display. I had to upgrade my version of QuickBooks just to be able to keep the display at 4K. Even now some of the fonts and tool bars don't scale properly. If I click the help button some of the fonts at 3 or 4 point and some are 24 point or so in the same window. It is annoying. If I drag that help window over to the other monitor, it looks normal. I sure hope they get it really fixed soon. It still works perfect for 99% of the functions. QuickBooks is the ONLY program that does it.

They don't expect the accountant types to spend the extra money for 4K monitors?

AutoCAD supports the 4k display but the cheap people here will not buy better monitors so I put up with a crap looking desktop.

I don't know.

I just looked again. To get a 4K monitor they seem to start at 27 inches. I would love to have a pair of 27s but that will not fit on my desk. My current second monitor is a fairly new 1600x900 wide screen 19 inch monitor. That was the highest res monitor I could find that would would fit on my desk. It is OK, but I wish it were "taller" and not a wide screen, and of course a 4K. Laptop displays are the super high res displays on high end computers. I guess the market is not demanding them yet.

I have a Microsoft Surface. It is a decent little unit. It is identical to the what we use in the airplane as the flight computer. It is a backup in case the regular flight computer has an issue.

We still have a monster Ailenware laptop that is a 19 inch display with 32 Gig ram and twin video cards in it. It is a laptop only if you are the size of Andre the giant. We will likely sell it since we have regular computers that have more processing power and are easy to update or upgrade.

I'd love to have it. I constantly have to restart my computer cause it just can't keep up with multiple drawing open over the network from city to city.

We just picked up a 55" 4k LG TV since it was on sale for $255. I might have to see if the old 50" 1080p will fit on my desk as the main monitor and the current one for documents.

The TV is a smart TV but will NOT be connected to the network. Will have to upgrade out projector sometime I guess. We mostly use it with the Laserlyte inserts as an indoor practice range for the hand spoons but does get used for movies now and then.

The battery in the Nissan Crapaloo went kaput on us so I was going to ride the bike in to work so my wife could have the car since the Cobra was landlocked by her aunt and uncles 5th wheel. I made it two miles and it quit. It did refire and I rode back to the house. It quit as I got to the mailbox. I think the float is stuck.

Battery stories always make me wonder about them electric cars.

When the batteries get close to end of life do you just get a few less feet every day.

Phew, I can testify that overcast and 88 is orders of magnitude more comfortable than 105 and full sun. In case you had a doubt.

Today at altitude it was 75 and nice. No sun blazing in.

I can also verify that at 100+ knots rain drops are painful on ones hand while trying to shoot out the window. Fortunately 99% of our project was NADIR photography and the laptop runs that system. The obliques were no fun.

We had some fun with our client tonight. He is wound up TIGHT and wants to micromanage every step. He is always in a major hurry and wants data right away.

So he sent a text to my business partner and myself and reminded us to get the files uploaded ASAP. That is like telling us to remember to deposit a check.

So my business partner asked in the three person text if tonight was the square dance night. I replied no, tonight is DISCO all night until 2:00 AM and I am getting my hair just right. Then I said we may have to break off and go to the Portuguese Yodeling competition. My business partner thought it was German Yodeling but I told his that was old hat, the new hip stuff is Portuguese Yodeling.
