The price of a battery increases geometrically with the volts and then there is the aviation certification tax.

Yea, likely the certification tax is 90% of the cost. When the battery maker is sued just because that battery was in an airplane that a bad pilot managed to crash just makes everyone else pay more.

My mother and father were from big farmer families, all their siblings have passed. As have most of their siblings kids. The ones left don't care whom they are related to.

My brother Bob and Tom don't talk to their kids either, or their kids won't talk to them.

We made it through Monday!

We are having a week of wonderful weather. 72 degrees for the high today. The battery for the airplane is a sealed batter no leak battery so that is part of the expense. The one like that in my 911 was over $200 but it is even bigger than the airplane one.

Morning all. With news of a possible shut down here the store parking lot was a mad house last night. Another shortage of goods based on panic buying. Oh well we might not be having thanksgiving dinner after all.

One of the local Porsche dealers had a small gathering Sunday--apparently they have a mini-museum in their dealership. Then followed by a group drive through the local mountains. I skipped it due to this COVID surge. One of the local P-car breakfast groups has a drive to some P-car swap meet this coming weekend, and the Petersen Museum has a breakfast cars 'n coffee event this coming Sunday. I'll skip them both as well. This COVID thing is putting quite a damper on car show gatherings. But hey, that's a first world problem.

It is set or mid July. With luck one or both vaccines will be out and the population will be getting vaccinated. Since my wife and I are in the geezer category we got them right after the medical and front line folks get theirs.

I wonder how long it lasts. If the people that contract COVID-19 are only immune for 3 (up to maybe 6) months, how long would a vaccine last or do you have to get boosters every 3 months until it is eradicated.

No doubt many fools believe the BS that the vaccine has the tracker nano particles and Bill Gates can track every person that get vaccinated. The vaccine is not 100% but 95% is way better than nothing. Kids have to prove they have the MMR vaccine and others to go to school. PCA can make the same type of rule.

It is all above my pay grade. I just hope to get back to normal sooner than later.

I got the flu shot yesterday. Granted I'm in healthcare where I can be around the sick and frail, but I feel that it's gotten to the point where I feel I'm being bullied into getting it. I don't have a strong opinion one way or the other (on the flu vaccination), personally. If a workplace is going to offer it right then and there, I'm fine with getting it. I understand the statistical health benefits of vaccination.

But now the larger corporate healthcare places are virtually mandating it. From my Libertarian perspective, I'm not sure I'm OK with that. For years the hospital has been pushing flu vaccination. In the past, if you didn't get the shot you had to wear a mask in the hospital and some sort of sticker on your ID badge. (Heck, might as well make it a yellow 6-pointed star while you're at it.) Now, the hospital (and a corporate clinic where I go--where people aren't sick) also make you watch a video and have a one-on-one chat with some middle-level manager about the fallacies of non-vaxxing. OK, that's too far IMO. That's bordering on coercion, and forcing decisions to be made under duress. I'm sure a lawyer would argue the exact opposite, but I still feel that health care organizations are twisting peoples' arms to get them to comply. I'm not comfortable with that approach.

My MIL got one of the calls claiming the call was her notice of service, and she was going to be arrested the next day at 1:30 PM if she did not call them back immediately and settle the issue. I told her to just relax and ignore it, it all all a scam. The cops don't call you a day before hand to say the will arrest you, they just show up with a warrant and haul you off. And she is as much a criminal as I am. Well she has had some moving violations in the last few years, but she paid them.

I had a similar call a few years back at work. The caller claimed he was with the IRS and they were coming tomorrow to arrest me unless I go buy Walgreen's gift cards. I laughed and told him he was full of 5hit and I am ready for him to come arrest me tomorrow. They never did show up.

I told our Nurse Manager they could consider mandatory flu shots my resignation. One, we have the same wear a mask if you don't get it etc so we should have a choice. Some of us get violently sick with the flue shot and they won't give additional PTO/sick if you get sick from the flu shot.

That said, I do believe many are very beneficial and we have had out kids vaccinated. I would be open to the C19 once tested.

Glen, dad had one of those calls and he told the guy go ahead, it wouldn't be the first time the police showed up at the house.

I just got one on my home phone. I never answer it so they left a message. It was a recording saying my subscription will be renewed and they will charge my credit card and I have to call them to stop that. I did not call back, and if they try to charge something it will not be on my card for long. I know my card company has my back.

No doubt they just want me to verify my phone number is a human. It is not, it is just an answering machine. I may start pushing harder to kill it, but the wife likes it. I may let her pay the $6.95 per month if she wants to keep it.

You should put the not in service tone on your answering machine.
