Friend of my parents had popcorn with milk instead of cereal. Never could bring myself to try it.

Had to quit eating popcorn. Hulls kept getting stuck between my teeth, or between a tooth and my gum, or both. Just got to be too much of a hassle. Think my cholesterol went down too because of the amount of butter I melted and poured on it. Instead of salt I used garlic salt then sprinkled with ground red pepper.

Doc told me to eat Cheerios or Oat meal for breakfast to keep off cholesterol meds. Been doin good. Last checkup all my good and bad cholesterols were in the good range.

Keep some cookies around for when my blood sugar takes a dive. It is kinda scary. Especially if it is the long acting insulin and you have to keep eating stuff to keep it from going right back down after a few minutes. But not too much or it goes crazy the other way.

As far as I remember I have had one bowl of cereal in the last 40 years. That was at a motel that claimed free breakfast on Booking.Com. They said the breaker tripped and only an electrician can fix it so they has a "continental breakfast" of dry sweet rolls covered in frosting, some toast and cereal. I had a bowl of cereal that I suspect was from the bulk package from the bottom shelf at the grocery store.

I always wondered who beside a kid liked the sweet roll that has been sitting out and is so dry it sucks the moisture from your mouth and would not be palatable without a 1/4 inch of white icing on it.

They did have good coffee at least.

Oh man, graham crackers with homemade chocolate icing. Then let them set out so the graham crackers get soft and the icing gets hard. Store bought icing don't work. It never gets hard. That is some good cookies.

You were supposed to dip the sweet roll in the coffee. The more dried out the sweet roll the better.

Hadn't had cereal since I was a kid until the doc told me to eat more Oat Bran.

It would likely be reported as child abuse now, but my mom used to pack my lunch pail with a graham cracker sandwich. It was a graham cracker, a thick layer of chocolate icing, and topped by another graham cracker. That way it was not messy. She also put a sandwich of some sort in there, but the desert was the good part. That was in grade school. I don't remember my lunch pail but it was probably a Superman or Lone Ranger. It was thrown out during a move I am sure. Later I just had a brown paper bag. She would pack some carrots or an orange slices but those got traded or thrown away. I was pretty badly abused!

I had a Bonanza lunch box in elementary.
Junior high I played a sax so carried my books in an attache. One of those big leather ones that opens on the top. Took lunch in a bag in the attache.
After a couple of weeks stopped bringing my lunch from 9th grade up ie HS. In 9th either caught a ride, or walked to a local joint.
10th and up rode then drove. Couldn't get caught dead at school during lunch time.

In JR high school lunches were not very good.
In HS school lunches were not worth the hassle. Let's just say the cafeteria got very dark around lunch time and if you were white, you had money whether you did or not.

In 9th grade I think it was, was in Alabama. They had a crazy system. You HAD to have a token to get lunch. They sold the tokens during home room and they were 25 cents each. My parents gave me a quarter I know. BUT, the guy selling the tokens came to our class room as his last stop. He would let me look in his change box and pick out any silver coins. They were still in common circulation back then. I would pay face value for silver dimes and quarters, and the nickles. Yep during WW2 nickel was scarce so they made the nickles out of silver. I also bought 5 cent pieces and and on occasion a silver dollar. Any steel pennies and old pennies I bought. I had to mow my butt off to make enough to buy the coins. I had to miss a lot of lunches because I bought coins.

They are sitting in the safe, still just getting older like me.

Some friends and I bought an old coin operated slot car machine. It didn't work. The first the we found was the coin slot and tracks were full of Mercury head silver dimes. We did get the machine running it was great fun with the slot cars. We split up the dimes.

Had not put the dimes away a few days later, they were in a cup on my shelf over my desk. My Mom found them and used all but 3 to give change to a friend of her's that bought something from Mom. The friend spent all but one by the time Mom told her about the dimes. Last i checked they were worth $1.10 each.

Yea, all those missed lunches did not make me rich by any means. Most every circulated silver coin is heavily worn. Pretty much silver value only. I guess when Bunker Hunt tried to corner the silver market and the price shot way up I should have sold. I have a lot of the silver quarters.

As a kid I would have gone nuts to "get" to sort through my collection. Now it is just a chore that I keep putting off. It is not worth a lot, but it is worth keeping.

My brother bought a bunch of silver coins as an investment in his kids college. He "hid" them in an old paint can he kept with other paint cans in his basement. Remember because I got accused of stealing them when they disappeared. Funny thing was his oldest had a lot of money when he was in college and never had a job. Think the coins went to the oldest son's college, but just wasn't spent towards his education like my brother had planned.

TGIF everyone, except Jim. Happy Saturday Jim.

I went flying again yesterday afternoon. I was chatting with the owner of the FBO (fix base operator) at the airport where we get fuel and keep the airplane. He has been in business 42 years. He is a flight instructor and has taught a lot of pilots to fly. There were a lot of birds flying around. Some buzzards off the end of the runway catching thermals and other small birds. He said he hit a sparrow and it made quite a noise. No sure how he could identify a bird splat but I did not ask.

He said one of of his fresh pilots hit deer when he was landing. It caused some flap damage and likely soiled underwear. The deer was killed, and the airplane had some parts replaced. We cheated death again successfully and our flight was event free, as planned.

Why do some people have a cell phone, and never set up voice mail?

I hate returning a call, and they are busy for whatever reason can't answer the phone. Then you get the default LONG stupid instructions on how to leave a message! WFT this is 2018. Everyone already can figure out how to leave a message. If they can't figure out to wait for a beep, they are too stupid to deal with. The default message needs to change to just "leave a message now!" BEEP.

Of course the real winners are the ones that never empty the inbox and there is no room left for a new message. That is real special.

Fantastically Great Good Morning!

Pepper's groomer moved clear across town. This will be the last time Pepper gets dolled up by that groomer. Used to be next door to Pepper's Vet. He is a Porsche guy so get Pepper the vet once over for free every time she gets groomed. Take her to a groomer because I don't like trimming toenails or expressing anal glands. Neither of my other two Goldens had to be expressed.

We could hit the 70s today. The temperature, not the era. Though the era wouldn't be bad either. Except the suspension on dirt bikes. That was a bad era for that. I think my Cobra has more travel than some of those bikes. How did we ever survive?

I survived by switching to street bikes at 16.
