My Brother in law just had a party at his workplace to celebrate his 45 years of working there. Is has not yet turned 65, so you can do the math on how old he was when he started working there. It is the one and only job he has ever had. He does the heavy equipment repair. They have bulldozers, front end loaders and other heavy equipment machines on the site, and he keeps the running.

The company has gone through several different owners. His paycheck just has a different company logo on it every so often.

In my entire career I have worked for just 4 different jobs. All of them in the photo industry. So I am a real job hopper compared to him. Well, OK my current job is working for myself, so 5 different paycheck sources. But now I don't get a paycheck, I just take a draw, and there are no payroll taxes. I have to file quartly tax payment on what the company is making.

And I don't count the mowing the yards as a kid as real jobs. Only when the paycheck has taxes withdrawn.

And more cars as well. You have totally changed professions as well. Yer just a vagabond!

My mom's parents bought a house in 1929 and did not move out until they put my grandmother in a nursing home. They never moved even once. That always seems weird to me, since we moved something like 16 times before I left home. Since leaving home and becoming a real adult, I have moved only 5 times. We plan to be here until they wheel us out on a gurney to the morgue or to the nursing home in a hundred years or so. I plan to live forever. So far so good.

Moring all.

Counting moves let see? I think I'm up to 7 with possibly one more to go. After the kids are done with college the house will be to large for just two people. That and the wife thinks it would be a wise idea to be rid of the second floor and the stairs to get there.

Yea, multi story houses are no big deal as a kid. In San Marcos, TX we had a really cool OLD house. It had two basements, two main living floors, and a huge attic. Lots of places to explore and play hide and seek.

When I first moved to Oklahoma my first apartment was a $90 per month furnished garage apartment and I had no access to the garage. It was a lousy, tiny place, and I had to walk up 13 steps to get in the front door. Second apartment was a really nice place at first. It had the bedrooms upstairs. The only time in my life I had a roommate. The owner (not my roommate) was in the oil business, and when the oil bust hit, he was broke. The AC quit, and then the roof started leaking like a crazy. He had no money to fix anything. That is when I bought a house. I was not really financially ready to buy a house, but I found a nice place, and made it happen. Then I lived on rice and potato soup and had to start shoot weddings as a second job to survive.

Hi Jim, sorry for the delay. I've been trying to find the exercises in an illustration, without success. I'll have a crack at describing them;

Exercise 1.

Lay on your back on the floor.
Reach down your torso and overlap your hands at your thumbs.
Bring your overlapped hands over your head to the floor and stretch, then relax but leave your hands together on the floor above your head.
Bend one knee keeping its foot on the floor.
Rotate that knee across the leg that is still straight. Do not force the rotation. Hold your bent knee in this position for a count of three.
With pressure on the ball of your foot, slowly push the bent knee towards your straight foot (ie, if your bent knee was the left one, and your straight foot represented 12 o'clock, you would be pushing your bent knee towards 1 o'clock).
Pushing with the ball of your foot should slightly raise your bent leg arse cheek off the floor. You should now feel a lumbar stretch on the bent leg side. Hold this position for a count of three.
Slowly bring your arse cheek back to the floor, and another count of three.
Unrotate your knee, and another count of three.
Repeat six times, then straighten this leg.
Do the same for the opposite leg/arse cheek.

Exercise 2.

While standing, overlap the palms of your hands at your thumbs in front of your waist.
Bring your hands over your head and keeping your hands together, stretch them up.
Separate your hand and slowly rotate your arms outwards and back to your side's, so that the palms of your hands are now cupping your arse cheeks.
Rotate your head towards a shoulder.
Slowly push the hand of that shoulder down your hamstring so that the palm of that hand is now below your arse cheek and hold for a count of three. Your torso should have a slight curvature as you stretch.
Slowly bring your hand back to your arse cheek and relax for a count of three.
Repeat six times for this side of your body, then rotate your head to the opposite shoulder and repeat.

Clear as mud

Cheers,
Jeff

Jeff, I may have to report your post. You have bad words used in TWO places that offend me! I may need a safe space. I had to just quote and highlight the bad words in your post. Now go drink a beer and wash out your mouth!

While I don't mind a beer, 4:30am is a bit early (even for me)

I'm going to have a crack at sleep again

See if I can get a couple more hours before the missus gets up for that work thing she does.

See there you go again and using bad words!

My computer has it's tongue hanging out. The CPU has been pegged at 100% usage and the memory is at 90%+ for 24 hours. And it is almost done with step 5 of 15. The cooling fans are all running hard.

What time DO you go to bed? I know midnight is early for lots, but 4:30am? Not since I was in my 20s.

Wait, there is a 4:30 AM?????

I thought the clock went from 10:30 to 11:00 PM at the very latest, and then it jumped to 7:00 AM in a flash. I put my head down at night and next thing I know it is time to get up in the morning after a restful night of sleep.

But just for about 200 more times. After that, I'm gonna sleep til noon.

Not really. I couldn't sleep in to 7 am if I tried.

My computer is still churning. 100% CPU use, memory at 90+% use most of the time, and the SSD data drive at 100% use most of the time. I need more POWER!

Your computer sounds like my brain feels since that accident.
Fell asleep yesterday evening a 5pm, woke up at 10am this morning.

Found someone to take me 2 miles to my local credit union branch and wired funds to Harrisburg PA for the Cayenne.
Ended up standing at a teller's window for about 20 minutes. Wore me out. Got wobbly and almost didn't make it back to the car.

Got back at 2pm so figure that is why I fell asleep and slept so long.

I count it as the time it takes for the project to complete, but that is about it.

I don't count it as my time "on the clock" that I am paid for. We don't have a paycheck, or salary at all. I just do a "draw" on the company checking account to my personal account and my partner gets an equal draw. That is not taxed at all. All the taxes are figured on what profit the company makes. The company does not pay taxes, it is all paid buy the two partners. Ain't that clear and logical? Only the US Government could have such complex crap to figure taxes.

Bottom line. We might go for a month or more with no draw at all if the company is not making money. If we get a nice check from a client paying their bill, we get some money to live on. We run a profit and loss report every quarter, and start figuring out an estimated tax payment that my partner and I each pay from our personal accounts.

Coming up to the end of the year, if we have a good profit, we renew the software licenses, and buy the "stuff" we need for the airplane to get the profit lower.

We try to practice 100% legal tax avoidance, and not even a hint of tax evasion.
