Welp, mowing is done. This is the weather I want all year, especially for mowing. Low to mid 70s nice calm breeze of 2 to 3 MPH and clear skies.

It always takes a while, mostly because of the master gardener that lives here and her plantings. Our back yard is not that big, and I have 7 objects from trees to a koi pond to mow around. None are square. OK, except for my storage building it is one object and it is a rectangle to edge and mow around.

The front yard has 6 flowerbeds or trees with rings to edge and mow around. The west side of the driveway used to be a yard to mow, but it was converted to flowerbed long ago. The east side of the house is the area we keep gated off as a dog run if we are keeping them out of the entire back yard. The grass part is only 40 inches wide, but it has a sidewalk all the way down the house. The entire house has concrete up against the house that we can walk on and be off of concrete. Of course it has to be edged. I have about a 1/4 mile of edging overall.

The front yard is split into two by the sidewalk to the front door. And there is a sidewalk along the street the width of the property.

There is one small area in the back yard that I can walk for 140 feet in a straight line at full speed, for one pass. After that, it is maneuvering around objects.

Got A-okay from heart doc. No reason for me to be having low blood pressure as far as he knows. Heart is slick as a whistle with no plac and low cholesterol. Called 911 yesterday, BP was 80/50 and felt loopy like a ministroke, but it took them 30 minutes to get here and by then blood pressure had come back up enough that they didn't cart me off.

Am not taking anything that would cause it either. No bp or water pills. And none of the tests, stress testd, blood test or even month long heart monitor found anything.

Good deal Richard. Now just get all better. I miss eating lunch together.

It looks like the boss's wife has some projects for me outside today. Mostly related to watering the flower beds. She likes to change the location and the plants and different plants need more or less water.

Looks like cloudy and cool today.

Yep, lost 7 lb. in the last two weeks. Must be from not going to lunch once a week!

One trip to Lowe's, and $38 bucks later all the faucets have passed inspection from the master gardener. The front hose connection had just a two way Y connections before with quick release connections on the left side. The right side goes to a pipe that goes to the fountain to refill the basin when it evaporates or has some splash out. The other side had a connection for the hose, or the drip irrigation system for the flower beds that had to be swapped. Now I have a 4 way connector. They don't sell 3 way connectors for whatever reason. So one for the fountain, one for the hose, one for the sprinkler and one to fill up her pitcher for the hand watering. No more swapping connections, and the leaks are massively reduced. The old gaskets were petrified.

Of course "while I was there" I bought some other stuff for other future projects. Gotta have stuff!

We had an issue where the hose had no water pressure and if we ran the hose to fill the pool the faucets had no water pressure. I went in the pump room to check the pressure at the tank and the gauge was broken. We called a plumber and he had to replace the gauge to see what was wrong and then couldn't find any issues. Everything is back to normal now so I figured something in the gauge must have been blocking the line. I hate plumbing.

Yea, when my wife decided "we needed" the new flower bed in the front yard to be watered with drip irrigation, I knew it was a challenge to do with my water well. In theory I could put in a pressure tank somewhere that does not freeze, and figure out that mess, or just use city water from our hose connections. That option was a LOT easier, but it does use city water that I get to pay for and not the free water well water.

It was still a pain in the butt to hook it all up. I originally designed the sprinkler system for just areas of grass, but the flower beds overtook many areas. Now I have one section on the sprinkler system that is just not used since the plants can't get wet, just the roots.

Yawn, I need a nap.

We had a thunderstorm roll through last night at about 4:30 with very high winds, and just under an inch of rain. Lots of thunder. We lost power for almost 15 seconds. My wife got up to watch TV coverage and they said some areas had 60 to 70 MPH wind gusts. All of our trees look fine from inside the house. That just has to really suck for the wind animals. It was not too bad inside my house while in bed, except it kept waking me up.

Power was out at my house for 3 hours fomr 4:30am to 7:30am. While it was out there weren't any lights as far as I could see in any direction. If it weren't for the lightening it would have been really dark.

It like a transformer went in my back yard. It did the flash boom thing with lots of sparks right when the power went out. The two more times after a few minutes.

At my old office we had a storm come through. I pulled pack the blinds just as the transformer just across the street blew up real good. It had cool purple sparks, and a real light show. Of course the power in our building went out.

We just had the power drop off, then reset seconds later. I was glad the ceiling fan was going to keep running.

Oh great. Got some tree damage from the storm/power outage.

Also realized when the ER came last tuesday they buggered up the glass outside front door closer.

Also took Cayenne in Thursday because of clunking while accelerating. Call this afternoon and said it would be $2500 to replace the cardin shaft. Got on the internets Cayenne forum and there is a Colorado Driveshafts that sells rebuilt cardin shafts for $350 and a jimmi fixx that repairs them for almost free. Problem I can't do stuff like that myself any more and don't kmow any porsche shops that would do the fix.

Phew, I was rousted out of bed early this morning to do some chores around the house.

We got the house cleaned. On the OUTSIDE! Really. The soffits are all hosed down and the mud daubers nest scrubbed with a brush to get rid of any trace. The brick facade is hosed off to remove a layer of dust. The back porch is cleand off from the leaves that blow into the corners, and the concrete is hosed down. The grill is cleaned up, and the garage doors cleaned off.

Then I was pointed to the doggie door on the the outside door to the laundry room. The old plastic flap had sagged a bit over the years and did not seal like it was supposed to. It had also yellowed a lot and eleventy thousand zillion face plants from the dogs had scratched it up to me much more opaque that new. So that is all pretty and fitted right.

Tomorrow we "get" to clean out the garage. It is a total leaf magnet and there is some crap that accumulated in there that needs to get put on the storage shelf, or in the storage building.

I agree Jeff. Some folks just can't help themselves and have to stick blatant politics into everything.

Sine we cleaned the outside of the house yesterday we are tackling the garage today. Sweep up a bunch of errant leaves, and road dirt, and organize some crap, and throw away some old junk.

Phew. The garage is mega cleaner. Concours clean. Well, lots cleaner anyway. Tons of leaves cleaned out.

As I opened the door to pull the Elky back in a dang leaf blew in. As I lowered the door, at the last second another blew in. Grrr.

Yesterday while driving the El Camino, I hit a big bump from a road seam, and the blower fan just stopped. It does not blow at any speed, or in any mode. I will have to fix that today. Likely just a fuse. It is likely a fuse, or a connection. The engine was hot and the temp was in the mid 80s yesterday so I figured today when the engine is cold, and it is 67 outside is a better tme to work on it.

The AC and heater fan is fixed!

Over the 28 year I have owned the Elky, I have fixed almost everything more than once. I feel certain GM never intended for that design to last 35 years, and go 370,000 miles. The problem was the wiring for the high speed blower draws a lot of amperage and the connections get hot over and over. One connection that they put in was there was was undersized and it melted 25 years ago. It ate a few quick connectors and finally I just made it a soldered together part.

I would put in a relay, but this time it was the factory designed relay that had a partially melted connection. I replaced the relay itself from my inventory of parts I keep, and cleaned up the connection on the harness. I should be good for another 10 years.

What has happened to everyone?
Is the Stijn thread on its final legs?

Since the weather was nice we did a lot of outdoor chores. Had to replace the drive belt on the lawn tractor. Just did that a couple years ago. Glad I have an impact wrench to get the bolt out of the crank shaft. A regular wrench just turns the engine over. Storms today again.
