We went to Enid this weekend for my wife's 50th high school reunion. One of he classmates has bought the old Champlin mansion. It is 20,000 square foot three story house with 14 bathrooms, and an elevator. All built in 1939. The descendants that had owned it, always kept it maintained to some level, and never let it fall into much disrepair. They all live in Dallas area, and coming to Enid, OK is just not part of their lifestyle.

The family that bought it, have spent a lot to modernize it some, and it is just a really cool place. Wonderful old world craftsmanship throughout, from the basement to the attic. The new owners gave us free reign to explore the place. There is one room in the attic that is bigger than most homes bedrooms that is used as just light bulb storage. The have a nice greenhouse in the back yard. Last week, the monarch butterflies stopped there in the hundreds in the back yard.

Yea, the gas meter was the size of meter at the local mall. It was huge. The water heater is a horizontal tank the size of a septic tank. They said all the bathrooms had almost instant hot water. There were 5 AC compressors that were all large units, so 5 zones of AC.

There was a small kitchen in the basement, a huge one with a custom built in stainless steel refrigerator, and all stainless steel kitchen. Next to it was a butler kitchen that was next to the formal dining room with 14 chairs and a custom table to fit the room. There was a separate walk in freezer next to the walk in wine cooler on the other side of the kitchen.

It is really nice that the history is preserved as it is a house on the historic places list.

Oh no. I just got an email that my MTB log in has been compromised by illegal usage. They did have a convenient link to click to fix it. Since I have no freaking clue was an MTB account is, I just marked it as spam and blocked it.

The other day a got a text message from Wal Mart that I was such a good customer I was awarded a $50 gift card, all I had to do was log in to verify my identity. Since I have not bought anything or even set foot in a Wal Mart since the early 1980s, I suspect it was not legit. It too was deleted.

One email is from a company I never heard of they claim the are finishing up an nomination for our little company to be named the GIS provider of the year. There must be some really bad providers out there if our little company that only does a little GIS for a few clients is the best in the country.

Morning all. ITs been a long week that started last Thursday. The MIL pass this last Monday. The wife, her sister and I have been tossing stuff left and right. I think I have really taken a ton of paper and cardboard to recycling. We have found a few family treasures but most of the mess is headed to donate somewhere or the landfill. I emptied one of her storage units and have now begun to fill it with trash bags. I plan to call one of the junk services to come get it.

It is always amazing what people will pay big bucks to a storage facility for storing crap. Nothing more useless than a used bed that is a spider filled mattress and box springs.

Some winter I will go into my attic and fill up some trash cans with crap I just have left up there because it is easier than cleaning it out. I am pretty sure no one really wants my old 17 gallon gas tank from the El Camino. When I changed to fuel injection I changed to a 21 gallon tank.

Is the tank still in good shape to sell on fleabay/CL/FBM or going to the scrap metal place?

It would be really hard to ship it. They are available new as a re-pop. I likely will put it on the curb for someone else to deal with. I am not going to a scrap place to get a dollar for it.

I have the original POS Rochester computer controlled carb up there as well. I never ever got that carb to work like I wanted. It would not stay running when cold, it hesitated at every intersection. It is what drove me to fuel injection.

I must have been abducted by aliens yesterday morning. It is the only explanation that makes sense. This morning I went to make coffee and the pot still had my second cup of coffee in it, and the coffee pot was not cleaned up as I always do. So I did not drink my second cup of coffee, and the pot turned itself off as designed.

The only other possible explanation, is I go so busy at "work" that I forgot my second cup of coffee! That is less likely than abduction by extraterrestrials, so eliminate the possibilities and whatever is left has to be the truth!

I drove over to the print service bureau we use to approve a print's color and density before they proceed with printing more prints. As I went to leave the starter was very sluggish.

I was happy my battery gave me a warning. It was a perfect day, 70 degrees, blue skies, and the Interstate battery store was three blocks away. They tested it, and it was weak. So 90 bucks later, new battery installed.

My last several batteries just dropped dead shorted, and I could not even jump start the car the battery was so fried. This was way easier. in the 30 years of owning the Elky I have gone through a lot of batteries. Some on 100+ degree days, some with snow and ice on the ground. This was better.

Welp, it was not just the battery. It tested out as weak, and it is a 36 month battery, and it was on month 40. So it was good to replace it. When I started the car, it was still rather sluggish. Fark.

So I just drove right to Autozone. The starter was a replacement and 10 years old and 74,000 miles on it. I bought the guaranteed for life starter 28 years or so. For several years they would just swap them out with a cheap rebuilt unit that did not last long. They finally wised up, and they handed me a brand new unit. 100% free, it did not cost me a dime. Just some royal pain in the butt labor. That starter is between 150 to 200 pounds, or it felt like it. It is a challenge to get it up against the engine, and then start a bolt. Phew. One dirty filthy project. Done and finished.

So new battery and starter. I should be good to go for while.

Golly, today is almost like having a real job.

I had to finish up one decent size project, set up some prints to send to our service bureau, and those will be ready for pickup with another job I sent them last week. I have to deliver the other job today to the client, and then a third customer wants a "proof" of the layout of their image at 1"=50' on a 40x60 print, si I had to fire up my trusty OLD computer to do that the easy way. Hardly any time to goof off on Pelican!

I never really wanted a job, just a steady paycheck. Three thing is one day. I am gonna be exhausted. That is almost 4 hours of work.

We had an early morning wake up this morning. About 5:00 AM a QLCS tornado was a few miles south. In case you don't happen to know about the QLCS tornadoes here is a link that will let you learn what they are:

A line of thunderstorms comes through, and tornadoes spawn off of it. Not the typical mesocyclone spawned twister. Most of the QLCS are little ones, just F0 to F1 usually. They pop up do some damage and vanish. And they were moving across the city at 50 MPH.

It will be interesting to find out what the total count was.

We were watching TV to get the latest locations. One passed a few miles south of us. We did not get even a flicker of the electricity, just a 1/2 inch of rain.

That was a crazy fall storm you guys had last night. There was a tornado out near my parents house. It flattened a hangar at the Clinton airport, which is only about 2 miles from their house.

Yea, it was a weird storm. Just a long front that went from Kansas to Texas and moved through fast. The first storm passed through yesterday evening. We had to stay up past our normal bedtimes to see that one go south of us. We have had over 22 tornadoes in two days across the state. Mostly little ones that tear up a rural barn or shed. I had to take a nap on the bosses orders this afternoon.

This looks to be the worst of the damage near them. Bet both those planes are a write off, the old cars are probably salvageable though.
