Leftovers are the best part of thanksgiving!

We had some rain on Saturday. Almost an inch of rain!

I need to check out my brake lights on the El Camino. I had a guy in traffic tell me one brake light was out. Likely a burn out bulb. It has been cold, so I have put it off. Today is supposed to be 60 so I will go do it. I did not want to run the heater in the garage when I could wait a couple days and have free heat from the sun.

I was not too worried about a ticket with my one drive a mile from home to the local grocery store.

I don't blame you there. We are supposed to possibly see snow this week. Might or might not stick. On the way into the office I had thick rain in one stretch.

My wife finished the bunny and the blanket last week.

She had plenty of yarn gray yarn left after the bunny, so now she changed the pattern and is making a dog for another kid. The dog is almost finished.

We have tday at my cousin's restaurant since we are down to 80 tp 100 people at the gathering. That means no leftover turkey for us but we don't have to do many dishes either.

Wow, I went to some thanksgivings with maybe 25 people, at a max. Usually a lot less.

Growing up, mom would get the biggest turkey she could get. We would always invite some single officers, usually 1st and 2nd Lt. and Captains that were stuck on base and could not get back home. We usually had 4 to 6 men come over to eat dinner with us, and leave with some leftovers. Dad could not invite enlisted men as that is not allowed for officers to socialize with enlisted, without special permission.

Kind of a silly rule for the holiday season but then there are all sorts of silly rules to follow.

It was a big no no for officers to fraternize with enlisted at all outside of official business.

In Hawaii the guy that got me into photography was a Staff Sergent and he would swing by our quarters to pick me up to go take pictures at the endless beaches. Dad had to get special permission from the base commander informing the commander that the Sgt. was coming to see me, and not my dad. They would be cordial, and shake hands, and ask the typical how are you today pleasantries.

I noticed while backing into my parking spot in the garage, the left brake light on the El Camino was out. It is 64 degrees now, so I braved the garage temps and with two Torx screws the tail light assembly drops out, and twist the bulb socket, replace the bulb and done. Almost too easy. I of course had a spare bulb "in stock" and done a 5 minutes. Of course I had to clean some leaves stuck in the bumper, and squirt some contact cleaner on the sockets just because I was in there.

The one of the right is the dead bulb. The one on the left is the backup light. I just ordered two of each on Amazon and they will be here later in the week. I have two of the turn signal bulbs already and the running lights.

Here is the doggy she made. You can't see the collar it is wearing from this angle. It is going to a baby boy, or a 10 month old. I never understood when a baby turns old enough to not be a baby, and just a child. It has a tail as well.

In my 31+ years of marriage I don't think she has funded any beer purchases for me.

We got married late in life, and we both owned houses, and had checking accounts & credit cards. I got my money, she has hers. We are both on each others accounts but that is for legal reasons only. Heck she still goes by her maiden name. She already had a career and was known by her name. The only time she uses my last name is at Porsche club events where she wants to be identified as my wife since almost all the long time members know me.

It is kinda funny checking into a hotel as MR & MRS and then she shows her ID and it is a totally different name. He legal name is her first name, but she goes by her middle name.

With no kids there was no reason to bother changing her last name.
For large purchases like her Macan, or this house, we just fund it together. However I paid for all of my 911 and my El Camino, but they were a lot less money back then.

well that didn't last long. With the parking lot turning white I voted to head for home. The street out front of my house is now white.

It was a super pleasant morning, and I was in the garage tinkering on the 911. It was up to mid 60s. The the front came through and I noticed it was kinda cool, and checked the temps and it was 50 and dropping. It will be 27 by morning. I prefer the 60s.

I ate the last of the Thanksgiving leftovers last night. My wife said it was national throw out your leftovers day. Bunch a wimps that were never bachelors to throw out less than week old food. 5 day old food, no way is it going out, it was delicious.

Nope, no worries on our food. Back in my bachelor days just after I bought my house, I had very little money. Buying a house at 12.50% interest as a single guy was a burden that I am glad I took on. I would go to the grocery store, and buy a cheap roast, and a couple 10 pound bags of potatoes, and several bags of carrots. Get out my cast iron dutch oven, and put the roast in there and fill it up with carrots and taters. I would eat very little of the meat, all he carrots and taters, then fill it back up with carrots and taters, and cook the roast again. I could get four rounds of vegies cooked with one roast over two weeks. Never had a problem except getting tired of the same meal over and over.

I was living on less than a dollar a day as a food budget. I saved up enough money to be able to fund some retirement savings and my biggest expense was girlfriends. Another expensive hobby!

Morning all. About 2" fell last night. Had to walk the dog in it. I decided to work from home today. At 11 I have to decide if we are attempting to attend a charity lunch. This would be the first year back after two off.

I dug into my stash of ammo, and went to the back to get the oldest ones. I suspect the replacement supplies will cost more than these did.

I called the range to ask if we needed reservations, they said nope, just show up. They did say the restaurant is closed for renovations.

We will have to drive a few miles to eat some wonderful BBQ instead. It will be fun, I have not seen my buddy in a few years.
