TOTALLY!!!!! you described my brother in law to a tee! Except he is a Southern man. Family is very important to him. He is in the navy. Treats my sister like a queen, respects her strength but yet strong and is definitely head of the household. I love him dearly because he takes such good care of my sister and she loves him with all her heart. Sigh... Unicorn I tell you.

Sounds like you're describing me, although I'm spoken for.

It's hard to find a woman who's pretty, smart, likes motorcycles and cars (and not just willing to look at them at pretty car shows but to get dirty under the hood or ride that dirt bike). I only know one other woman in all the people I know that fits that description. So a man is lucky to find a woman like that. My problem is that I can't find a man that can mirror me in that. The sweetness balancing his macho. But eh. We don't always get what we want, do we? Its like trying to find a unicorn. I have accepted that. Glen, you are a very lucky man. Love her and appreciate her. But I know you do. Her garden is lovely.
I swear we're connected somehow...except you are more wise than I.

I've found it was difficult to like the things I like and find a guy that's ok with it...until hubs. He always tells his friends he knew I was the one because he'd tease me relentlessly and I wouldn't get mad, I'd give him crap right back. A lot of guys thought I liked cars to get guys but, I really do love getting down and dirty and I love fixig things up. I'm certainly not afraid to try anything once but, i tend to gravitate towards things usually considered guy things.

I think I might be a gay man trapped in a woman's body.

Your son, he's single right? And surfs. by the way, I did send him an email a long time ago saying if I ever come out there to take pity on me and surf with me so I don't drown. Probably scared him. Ha ha ! Let him know I have no ulterior motives. Remember? I am bad at dating.

One last thought on this Tweeze,,,
(switching into story mode here)

True friendship in a relationship I find is the key above all other traits.

I knew my wife as a friend for a couple of years before the lightbulb went off in my head. In all fairness her lightbulb went off before mine did but, her best friend made a move on me first (surprised me and I wasn't looking for it at the time).

So, my wife's best friend and I dated for several months while still being good friends with Deb. Heck most of my dates consisted of two or three couples going out together or just the two of us with Deb as the third party.

So, I went out to sea for a ONE week period and when I came back it was apparent that someone didn't wait for "The man to return from the Sea" (think Old Spice commercials). So, that was the end of that. Months go by and the group is still pretty much the same except now I'm not dating and Deb's best friend is dating "the Cop".

Meanwhile Deb moves down to Santa Cruz to go to school and moves into the house where we still live to this day,,,,,

More to come, I have a meeting to go to.

I am not wise. On some things I am but when it comes to men, CLUELESS! I find that men say that they enjoy my banter... At the beginning. And then I think guys want that woman to be all lovey dovey too. I have no problem doing that. In fact, I am really good at it! The problem is remember, I am like a man so he needs to tell me to turn down the sarcastic smart-a$$ and turn up the womanly i love my man stuff. How am I supposed to know if you don't tell me? I can't read his mind. My ex husband used to tell me I am too much like a guy in the sense when he vented to me that I tell him this is what you need to do, when all he needed me to do was cuddle with him and tell him he is the big strongman that can figure it out. I need to get better at that. Not be so hard headed. How do I do that?

dunno.. I walk a fine line in the same regards. Too logical/practical, not lovey dovey enough all the time. How the eff should I know these things?!

I didnt get him a v-day card our first year and he was so upset..I was like , you're a guy I had no idea you cared about these things. That's the problem with the strong/macho yet sweet cuddly type.

I need to stick with my guy friends. They are safe. They don't hurt me, I have a lot of fun with them, and I get that male companionship. Now, lets not turn this into Tweeze's incompetences in love thread. If I wanted to do that, I would have started it on my own.

I want to hear more about Deb and the house she moved into and her Navy man.

Here here. I rarely meet women I jive with. Even my best girl friends feel so "far" away from me sometimes. the guys.. they are always there, not matter what the issue or how long it's been and they are objective as hell.

Yup. I can call a guy friend I haven't talked to in months and they aren't all pissed hurt that I didn't call them. And if they are, they give me grief for about five minutes and then we say where are we gonna eat? Easy peasy.

I have a lot of girlfriends that I do my girly things with them but I find that I enjoy the guy stuff more so it just ends up I do the guy stuff more. Really? You get a pedicure every week???! Mine never last anyway. Stuffing my toes in snowboard boots/running shoes or digging them in the sand doesn't make the pretty toes last too long. And I can only shop for so long. I prefer the Internet. Unless my man comes with me and picks what he wants to see me in.

I can't remember the last time I had a mani/pedi... I just don't care enough. I did buy a bottle of nail polish a weeks ago.
I get dolled up often though and I love it. I've recently discovered lipstick
