I think I have that same frame, is it an Allez M4 Pro? Quick bike, accelerates like a rocket, but not my favorite chip seal beast.

No way in hell would I ride that double MTB... Too much balance work goes into not biting it, I'd hate to have my partner put me on the ground, and that thing looks long enough that half the places I ride it wouldn't go...

No way. My wife and cannot tandem kayak together. Or bleed brakes. That would be a disaster. Haha. Good luck T

Funny. The first time my wife and I tandem Kayak was in open water in southern Mexico with a bunch of people and the guide. He almost became our personal guide for the trip out. We kept going in circles, very large circles. I can't yell at her on vacation. I have a Kayak but she's only come out with me a couple of times. Both times she did well on her own.

You don't balance as a stoker. YOu are basically the motor and really don't do anything, well, on a road tandem anyway.

My all time favorite tandem MTB team was a single speed team of two guys at the old Humbug Hurry Up in Yreka California. That race started out with a police escort through town before turning us loose on the dirt. The MTB team was a riot - the stoker stood on the seat with one hand on the captain's shoulder so he could use the other hand to wave to the cheering crowd! Pretty cool. When we hit the dirt, they passed me on the climb like I was stuck in cement! That Ventana is exquisite. Hope you get it - and ENJOY! angela

There are a lot of tandems that are in local bike shops. They only ones that seem to sell are the fat tire cruisers. The others have deep dust.....

A tandem requires a commitment from both riders. The captain has to anticipate and communicate, and the stoker has to trust the captain. I've had good and bad experiences. My son was a pretty good stoker when he was young, though he thought it was funny to soft pedal uphill. We used to do the lower part of the Mt. Wilson toll road (fire road). He was indoctrinated early though, as I towed him in a trailer starting when he was around 6 months old. My ex-wife preferred to ride her own bike - that's why I sold the road tandem and switched to mountain with a child stoker setup.
My wife *loves* riding on the back of the GS. In fact she is the one usually bugging me to go out riding. She's game riding bikes as well but doesn't have a lot of off-road handling skills (she had a nasty crash a few years ago that led to an infected wound). Going off-road on a tandem is a bit different from road, mostly due to speed and terrain. The length of the bike certainly limits riding on tight single track but it can go most other places. The whole point is to get some exercise and not have to worry about cars running us off the road. The bike path at the beach is crazy busy and not fun either. So dirt wins if you want to get a relatively safe workout. What local shops have tandems in them? Of course I managed to tweak my lower back just getting off the bike today so this will be a slow road back... |

Your socks and your condoms are probably the same size. Multitask!
I just buy short athletic socks at Costco or wherever I see them cheap. I have read that women's tennis socks are not to be worn; according to the Velominati. It actually makes some sense to me that a cyclist would want a bit of ankle protection in case of falls, there is very little padding over the bones there. (I think there's a marketing angle there.) |

Speaking of Asian, buy form them Wholesale 10 pairs/lot NEW Cycling Socks Bike Bicycle COOLMAX Sport Sox Bianchi/Santini, Free shipping, $3.87-4.56/Pair | DHgate
I know nothing about their quality. I normally buy a pair of two from my local guy when I throw out a pair. I am sure they are all made in China by now? They are tough ans do not wear out often even after many wash and dying cycles. I am not sure what the ads are on the sock, personally I don't care, nor do I care if my jersey match the color of my gloves. I can't help you with the Garmin thing. I don't have any of the computer thing on my bike but I will ask around for you MIke. |

I have had good luck with New Balance running socks, I got them at Sams, and now Academy. They have three gray bands at the arch that compresses. Very comfy and good fit. Not sure how small they make them though...
