964 intake on 3.2?
Any advantage to putting a 964 intake on a 3.2/3.4? Lets say you had one laying around (aluminum) and you saw the adapters in the SRP catalogue......

Yes.
The Plastic 964 intake is much smoother and more uniform inside. It flows much better. It's also significantly lighter, and won't absorb as much heat and transfer that into the incoming air as the aluminum 3.2 intake will. Oh, and it has a resonance chamber that opens up at, I think, 6300 rpm for a little boost.

I just got one. Traded my complete 3.2 set-up to Kevin @GAS motorsports in Cali for a complete plastic 3.6 deal even up. We each paid the shipping. The only additional investment is the adaptors. sssssssssssschweeeet!
Kevin was building a early turbo engine and the SC intake is the solution for the turbo guys going to a more modern EFI over the CIS. I'd highly reccomend it because it solves all the short commings of the SC intake, has a larger throttle body and is much lighter. You will have to fab some linkage

SC or Carrera - Carrera, right?
But doesn't the Aluminium 964 intake have the same issues as the aluminium 3.2 Carrera intake as far as uneven flow?

Carrera, and the 964 intake I have on the shelf is an aluminum one. I was just thinking out loud, need to do something with the intake.....

I'll use a simple programable ignition box like the MSD with controller. I believe there are a few others devices where they pick up the ignition signal and then you can use rpm 'pills' to have the switch activate any 12v electrical device to work the flap w/o additonal engine management

Sorry to break inn on your thread, but you mentioned
"saw the adapters in the SRP catalogue.." What adaptors ARE THAT ??? And what is "SRP catalouge". I ask since i got a 964 intake system that i want to use on my 3.0L when i'm converting to EFI. And the 964 uses the 3 bolt's intake vs. the 2 bolt's intake manifold on pre 964. I anyone make Efi intake manifold's or the like please let me know.

Sweeden is my neighbour country, and i also miss the intakes with the injector holoders; so i think stig's garages solution is just right for me. Thanks again.

I have a plastic 964 intake for my 3.5 turbo engine. It has been covered in kevlar for strength and Marco Manzie made billet injector blocks on the cnc for me. The center section is a custom aluminum section that houses a very large accufab throttle body. If you need the 2 bolt injector blocks let me know. Here is a pic of the blocks on one of my cylinder heads.

Erik: Thanks for the offer. But those very nice looking 2 bolt injector blocks look like big $$$. I don't think they are inside my budget. My goal is I expect the intake and efi conversion to be inside $1600 tab. That leaves me approx. $600 to injector block's, the injectors, and all the fuel lines to injectors.
I'm trying to make my conversion on a budget, by using used parts; f.i. the EFI computer i use is home build from a web group (www.vems-group.org), and the 964 plastic intake i have from a guy in Germany for $400, but missing the injector blocks. I went to Stig's Garage and the injector block's is €600 ($700), that's quite a lot. I'm trying to find used original plastic blocks at first, and then use the SRP adapters, or have some made if that pays out. For those interested: My plan is to have the 964 plastic intake and VEMS EFI computer on my 3.0L SC engine for a start. And learn about Engine management and programming. Then the scene is set for later enhancements like 3.2 P&C, high compression, twin ignition, SSI exhaust a.s.o. ![]() Remember i live in a country with 180% TAX on automobiles, so my ´79 was $40K

The injecter blocks marco makes are pretty reasonable. 400 for the plastic intake is a bit much. Usually you can find them in the 175-300 range with everything you need
