I don't think the 911 has suicide handles like the VW.

Here is a close up the exhaust. It is a one piece design with the very special muffler welded to the headers.
This saves weight and eliminates a possible exhaust leak at the flanges. They tend to bottom out sometimes
and throw a fountain of sparks behind the car when under full acceleration.

Looks like 69' 289 Mustang muffler! And they do flow well. That motor isn't even broken in yet Chris.

Very good Jeff. It is a Mustang muffler and it sounds wicked.

Dave,
Larson Electronics on Van Nuys in S.O. will be happy to help you at no charge unless it needs repair. They are between Burbank and Oxnard on the west side of the Blvd. It's a great place to go for electronic advice/repair.

I'll be happy to replace your fuel filter for you Derek. I'll need a hand at about 10 or 11 this morning lifting the engine into the engine stand. Call Radu if you don't have my number.

I'll be happy to help lift but I need to know where the secret location is. Someone want to pm me or call my cell.

I can come over a little later. Around 1.... Engine will probably be on the stand, but I can give a round of applause or something.

I just woke up. Groggy.
I have some errands to run, and I still have to dig up a fuel filter.

Thanks Kevin for coming over and helping me get the Carrera motor off of the garage floor. I enjoyed giving you the tour. Next time we'll see the Playroom in the attic.

I would have loved to have helped out too, but I was out of town. Ironic we get moved to OT-land and Chris starts serious work on the car that started all this... Go figure.

Well Chris, looks like you need some oil return tube seals from the picture. I assume you will be adjusting the valves and doing the valve cover gaskets too while it's out. Hopefully that will take care of those leaks.

Thanks Jeremy. I'll tear-down to the cylinders to be able to check their lining, and the piston's ring condition. The engine has about 2500 miles on it so there's no need to split the cases.

I would like to install the twelve plug distributer. Much work has gone into the cylinder heads. The heads are ported and polished 2 mm over maximum, I had to enlarge the throttle bodies to blueprint them to the enlarged ports. They began as 2.4 911S MFI throttle bodies which neck down to 36mm to enter the head intake port on a stock 911S engine. The ports on the Carrera's throttle bodies were bored to 38mm to match each head's enlarged port of the same diameter. The resulting match between the ports of the head and thottle body are seamless. This is one of the tricks that make this 911 go.

Also, it might be interesting to exhange my Carrera 6 cams for RSR Sprint cams, what do you think?
Note: What I'm calling Carrera 6 cams are actually re-ground MFI 911S cams brought to an intermediate between RSR Sprint cams and 911R cams. I remember now being told that RSR Sprint cams wouldn't work well on the street, like we care right?

If the weather permits... You just reminded me to recharge the battery in my PnS.

How's the Jeep?
