Looks like you either caught a bird or dragonfly in the first pic. Look above the trees in the upper left of the pic.

It was really one of Daves r/c planes. The one with the camera doing recon.

That's horrible. I totally agree, The Identicals are sketchy. Always go cautiously through these turns.

Hey Jeff,

Know what this is:

BTW, I was able to get the roll pin punched out with a drill bit!

Thread on rebuild is here.

I couldn't find original platinum plugs, so I cleaned the old plugs.

After a rinsing in Chemtool and a steel wire toothbrush, here is the resuts.

Porsche Crest Ignition Plugs

Just a little carbon on these plugs.

After cleaning, you would never know that they were 32 years old with only 4000 miles on them.

Porsche Crest Ignition Plugs

I used this steel wire toothbrush to clean the Bosch plugs.
If you have dental plaque, this brush will remove it for sure.

Porsche Crest Linkage

The throttle linkage was a little dry,

Moly Grease does the trick. After lubricating all ball joints, the throttle felt like new.

Porsche Crest Final Adjustments

The throttle rod between the MFI pump and the rest of the linkage was off by about 1mm.
After adjustment, all butterfly valves drop to their rest stops in synchronization. This is called corrolation and is very important for good idle and smooth running.

All lines and linkage are clean and in their right locations. There's nothing like MFI.

Porsche Crest Cold start lines

The braided rubber hose that feeds the cold start to the injection stacks usually needs replacement. It decays quickly.
Many VW's have burned by the roadside because of this braided fuel line.

Here is a close up view.

Dave at TRE gave me this trick silicone hose to replace the braided line.

Porsche Crest Final Adjustments

After adjusting the tension on the MFI drive belt, the final piece of sheet metal is installed over the belt.

Chris, those plugs had a ton of sludge! The combustion chambers were clean and shiny?

A tiny bit of carbon on the piston tops.

Nothing 8000 rpm won't cure.
