Very successful and quite the film credits under his belt!

Not sure where John Mason is, his old business card is somewhere around here. He did incredible work though, especially with alloy. My T6 aluminum rollcage is stamped MASON ENG. on the drivers side bracketing plate. Thanks John.

I ran into Arnie at the OSH on Sepulveda and Oxnard awhile back. Sounds like he's doing great and living just north of LA. Arnie is an excellent mechanic and fabricator. He is incredible with car's electrical systems. I remember his dad that owned the shop on Ventura Blvd (Verbiesen and Sons), he often had a cigar hanging out of his mouth. I liked him, he had real old school character. Arnie worked there too back in the 70's, his brother was there as well, hence the name "and sons" on the storefront. They were all great guys. Those were good days, weren't they Dave?
Note: Thanks Arnie for all your help and for selling me your 911 racecar chassis. I will always appreciate it.

This week we will be meeting on Thursday evening at Truckstop at around 8:00 pm. Summer's passing and you might want to join us if you haven't already. We have fun talking cars and driving across Mul to dirt Mul at around 9:00pm. We are not racing or attracting attention. Just having a fun time. Please come if you feel like getting out for a nice evening.

Good times tonight. Chris, Jane, Jeff, Derek, Radu, it was nice seeing all of you tonight. Chris, give me a call, if you want help with your 911(s). I think I need a set of pagid brake pads up front for the Toyota .

This one is for you Chris:
http://www.pelicanparts.com/techarticles/911_turbo_covers/911_turbo_covers.htm

While you are getting your car back on the road, it might be wise to replace the uppers and lowers. You may gain a little weight (barely), but it might be worth it.

Dave

Thanks Dave and also for the info on 911 valve cover upgrades.

We only had a small group but still it was fun to hear about everyone's projects. We talked about Dave's 911 engine work that he's doing in a nice cool aircraft hanger. He brought along a box of top-end parts from his Porsche and did a show and tell for us. Jeff discussed his progress with his repairing all the rust damage to his Porsche and what engine upgrade he's planning on. Jeff has his whole car on a big jig so that he can rotate the body all around. This will enable him to fix everything! Then he can drop in that 8.2 litre Cadillac engine for a little torque.

Derek(lfot) drove his very nice white 911SC to Truckstop. It's in the photo below. He is changing the exhaust to a more sportier sound. Please elaborate Derek. Radu is working on his car to make it more "dialed in" and he brought a small video rec/player that he had strapped to his front tow bar while driving on Mulholland. He showed it to us. It was very cool, with the camera very low to the ground, with sound recording as well. Thanks for sharing that Radu. I also spoke briefly about the 4 air cooled cars that I have to fix and how much fun that will be in this moderate weather we are having.

At about 10 minutes after the curfew of 9 pm, a Ranger's truck came around the corner from Laurel Canyon. I knew that it was time to move on to our next destination. It was a young Female Ranger. She politely said something like, "You will have to move along, there's no more hanging out on Mulholland at night guys". I replied, "We were just leaving, thank you".

We got to the end of paved Mulholland and parked just past it. That way we would'nt be violating any curfew times that would invite interest from authorities. What a clear, warm evening it was. After some more car talk, some of us went off to the Pineapple Hill Grill and Saloon in Sherman Oaks. Jeff, Dave, Jane and myself enjoyed more good fun there having food, drinks and listening to music on the Jukebox. As you said Dave, "good times tonight".

Not a whole lot of elaboration needed. Just recently went with a Bursch cat-bypass into my 1in1out M&K. Sounds great, breathes better, running a bit richer than stock with the added air flow. There's definite pick-up there.

So now I'll just sell all that and go with SSI's and a 2in2out M&K... eventually.

isn't there something still in the constitution about freedom of assembly?

There's a city law up on Mulholland Dr. about stopping at overlook points after 9:00pm. It's in effect because of some sort or racing or something that was going on up there a while back.

LOL That's a good one Derek.

You know, after hearing that "there's no more hanging out on Mulholland", I was wondering what the young female Ranger was briefed on about the "old days". Remember how a B/W showed up at the end of Mul a couple of weeks ago when we were stopped there for awhile. Obviously someone called and said something like Hoodlums were gathering in the dirt section of Mulholland ready to prey on unsuspecting commuters. It's really quite humorous that our presence was a threat to someone/anyone.

Now back to last night. Was there a reason that this particular Ranger showed up to enforce the Curfew? Maybe her co-workers sent her on purpose to test her resolve in enforcing the 9:00 rule. In any case, she is one of the nicest Rangers on Mulholland...... No Laugh.

Since we we cooperative with her authority we posed no threat. She felt that her law enforcement training had provided the tools to deal with us. Little did she know the true criminals (the 4:20's in the Jetta) adjacent to us had just left and she missed the big bust. Which is probably better for us since we would have been in right place at the wrong time if they stayed....

Honestly........She was out numbered and alone in the big shiny new SUV.

Now what I do want to know is how does the paparazzi get away with congregating at Bowmont? Press Pass's? We need to get our own.

After we left the grill Dave and I were on Van Nuys and a guy was "walking the line" with the LAPD Dance Instructors.

That guy was loaded pretty good as he was leaning over at about a 10 degree angle.

I'm with slodave - I dropped the motor on my car tonight and will tear it down tomorrow to find out why it burns a quart of oil every 200 miles and smokes like a crop duster.

Although having it running by next weekend would be nothing more than a pipe dream for me. Good luck slodave!
