For this, like any situation, there is what he said, what she said, and then the "truth" which is somewhere in-between the two. But reality is perception so that make the "truth" even less "truthy."

Yep, same here, we didn't confront the cops, cause had we acted like punks do today (Black & White) our parents would have punished us, and it wouldn't have been a "Time Out"

Uh no. It's pretty rare for a cop to shoot an unarmed person he thought was carrying a gun and it's a big effing deal when it happens. I know I'd be in prison for 20-life if I killed someone I thought might have been drawing on me, but was later found to have no gun at all. Not saying unholstering was totally out of line here, but you have to be ready to really shoot when you do that.
A group ganging up on a cop is also very dangerous,

At the very least you have to admit those two boys were making aggressive swarming movements against the cop while he was otherwise engaged.

Not smart, not smart at all.

They looked poised to attack to me.

They wanted the cop's attention, and they got it.

The one cop was too hyped up, all the more reason for the kids to obey and not mouth off.

Stupid kids, dumb cop, a bad combination which could have turned out far worse.

Latest update just reported on CNN. Officer involved in the incident has resigned.

No details yet.

Just had a news conference with police chief. Reading between the lines, it sounds like the officer would have been fired and was allowed to resign. Chief was adamant that out of 12 officers deployed, only the one was "out of control" and failed to do the right thing.

He may have done something wrong, but you keyboard ninjas have no f'ing clue. My bet is most of you would have soiled yourselves. I get the militarization of the police, hate it, but you bubbas roll up on this little party to try and keep the peace and I'll film you, then critique EVERYTHING you do, adopt a superior tone and add the eye rolly thing for effect.

Ever been shot at, shot at someone?
Amen. Along with those giving tactical advice based on what they've read on the Internet. I can't imagine being in this situation and find it pretty ignorant to second guess those that are, ESPECIALLY when actual eye witnesses believe the police acted correctly. Most of you have the same questionable credibility as the TV talking heads.

Soon, very soon the police will stand down and not engage. This is the beginning of the end folks.

I disagree. The pendulum is swinging back to where it should be after decades of "shooting first, asking questions later".

As retaliation for those two guys approaching Officer Angry (in an instinctive attempt to take the immediate focus off of her), this petite little girl was then detained in a fashion that would inflict the most pain and humiliation for as long as possible. This mindset was already established by what this officer had previously said to two cooperative males ordered to sit curbside ("you're paying for what the others have done"). Apparently, even the police chief now agrees that this officer stepped over the line .. and I believe this police department (and town) will be better off in the long run.

I have tried to teach my kids a couple things, one of which is that when a Police officer tells you to do something - do it. No questions. Do it. In fact, anytime anyone in an authority position has to be obeyed. Regardless until you can challenge them effectively. Add a weapon into the mix and only a fool would not obey. Say what you want about raging against the machine. Ya, keep thinking about how unjust the world is and how the police are thugs. I would rather have a cop draw down on a potential threat then to have them taken over.

You don't mess with anyone who can kill you quick. I guess a few of those kids never got that memo...

It won't be better. The chief caved due to political and media pressure. He had to say what he did weather he thought so or not. The basic mentality of a Police officer is that any situation is a potential life or death situation. You have to consider that.

What will happen is that with all the coverage of how cops go 'bad' will result in a serious deterioration not unlike the rise in spoiled brat entitled kids. This is not good at all.

How these kids acted tells me all I need to know. This country is losing character.

Let me ask you guys that have kids, what would you think if your kid acted like any of those kids? I would be pissed. Would I be mad at the cop for treating my Daughter like that? Not at all. I would be pissed at her because she didn't do what was the right thing to do was - which is to obey the Police Officers command. Period.

Don't believe me? I have a little story to share about my Son and how he spent 3 days in 'in-school' suspension because of something he may or may not have done. The Asst. Principle called me up, explained what happened. I asked him what the punishment he felt it should be and said a day in 'In-School Suspension" I said give him 3 and call it good. He was shocked, my Son pissed, Mommy upset at me but after it was over, all agreed it was the right thing to do and I was right.

These kids all should have been bulldogged and cowtied.

I agree, it doesn't make sense to do anything else. Everyone else knows how to do it better.

That kid who gestured like he was drawing down should get hammered......jail time, heavy fine, and community service...like cleaning police station bathroom floor with a toothbrush.

I'm still wiggin' a kid would do such a freakin' stupid and irresponsible act. Seriously?!?

Including the other 11 cops on scene who we are not talking about because they know how to do it better.

And the two girls who came running up from the other side who crouched down in a similar manner only to be shoved off (deservedly) which seems to be what those two guys reacted to?

They are kids, they are often stupid, they do stupid ****.

That's why Mikes kid got 3 days in school suspension.

Not because he's a bad kid but because he's a kid and like I said, they are stupid.

Straight A dean's list Valedictorians are often complete and utter morons.

Ask any parent, if they tell you their kid never did something stupid they are lying.

I don't know, I wasn't there and either were you. I suppose that cop should have let those teens interfere in anyway they saw fit and if he ended up dead or seriously injured so what. They were only kids being kids. Clearly kids don't need to respect authority figures and certainly face no repercussion's for their actions. I guess even tying to take a police officer's weapon from him deserves a free pass if kid does it. I mean what's the worse that could happen a dead officer. So what, just a dumb kid who I'm sure is a victim of something.

The all knowing media just needs to slant a story in any way they see fit. Heck even our president knows when cops act stupidly. They just have no business asking a guy for some ID when he claims he's breaking into his own house. How stupid of them.

The kid rushed up to take a swing at the cop and then thought better of it at the last minute. How anyone could see something different is inexplicable. He even has his right hand in a fist in the supposed "reaching for a gun" still frame. I watched it and understood immediately what was transpiring.

He had more balls than brains at that moment. What would you guys do if you saw some out of control idiot cop absolutely brutalizing your teenaged sister or girlfriend, (when you were a teenager)? How about your teenaged daughter right now? And don't give me your white guy from the suburbs who is 100% law and order so this could never happen BS.

You're at a wedding. Some women or girls start fighting. The cops arrive and one amped-up moron cop grabs your daughter, (who is a bystander), and starts manhandling her as the cop does to the child in the video. She is screaming in pain and terror. What would you do?? I'd probably be dead, shot by the cop if someone touched my sister like that.

The kid has balls. He was going to protect the girl from the cop assaulting her. It's instinctual. He was not drawing an imaginary gun that he didn't have on the cop. No one is that suicidal. I suppose some of you think that the girl might have had a gun in her bikini? You never know with these black people. Can't be too careful.

Wait, cops assault people?

But they have a badge?

I thought that gives them the right to do whatever they want and what would be considered breaking the law for civilians is OK for them.
