Rear bumper and rest of the car look amazing.
You'll sell some of these for sure.

I guess he didn't know about the Kevlar part.
yeah that is what typically happens in F1 races were they have to yellow flag the race and sweep up all the tiny bits of chards.

carbon fiber is not necessarily stronger than than some of the higher S grades fiberglass, but its extremely high in modulus (stiffness) which makes it great for body panels. its relatively poor for impact absorption in a bumper application.

carbon often mix with Aramid fibers better known as its trade name Kevlar, is immensely strong in tensile strength (used in bulletproof vest) but lacks the modules of carbon.

the laid up both complementary materials together and bag it to remove the excess matrix (resin or epoxy) , the results can be exceptional like this bumper would be.

Headlamp ring done and ready for next step. We are still a bit torn between making one out of brass or carbon. Both would require plating.

I hate the internet because it makes me realize how many people out there have so much more talent than I do.

Kudos, again.

Please don’t measure yourself against some of what you see. I have a dream team of fabricators, composite expert, paint, etc. it’s taken each of my teammates literally decades of hard work to get to their skill levels. With that being said they are no different than you, they’ve just put it that time.

well, they don't have "two left hands" as we say in Germany.

Can't wait to see the outcome for that lightweight headlamp ring.

Well that would be a slight problem lol. The ring was not part of a weight reduction, it was necessary due to the fact that the headlamp angle was changed approx 15-18 degrees

Great perspective, nothing beats experience and dedication to a craft.

I just fired a contractor that kept saying to me: "you won't see that when we're finished"

We just finished a 3 year, nightmare remodel on a new to us home where I discovered every single ****ty, crook contractor for 100 mile radius. Makes me want to go into residential construction as I noticed quite often I was paying more money than I was earning in the same span of time and what I was doing was much more technical

We are going to give pressing the headlamp ring out of brass a go but if that doesn’t work we will get the carbon rings as pictured above chrome plated at $300 each!!!
