Just a garden variety 1988 Targa but oh what a sweet ride!

90K miles, SW chip. cat B/P, Monty, light flywheel, aluminum clutch package, Euro cam timing advance. Dynos at 206 RWHP, gets 29+ mpg on freeway trips at 75 mph.

No racing or DE, just a fun driver for 78 year old grandpa and grandma

tincanguy... your car is GLOWINGLY STUNNING !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
That is a picture for a calendar for shure...
Is the car lowered and is so, what are the specs/height ??
What size fuchs & tires are you running ?
What an amazing picture... your Red Porsche is +++++++++++++++++++++++ drool...
Aside... I used to have an 03'Passat GLX Wagon in Black Magic Pearl color... traded it in @90k right before the warranty was to expire and the dealer just replaced the generator and the service tech told me that if I ever needed to replace the generator (german for alternator) it would cost me $4k as all of the front of the car has to come off to get to it. I could'nt drive fast enough to another brand car dealer to trade it in.

Sorry for the segway... keep this in mind if you have not had this repair or pm me for more info if you wish.

Want to sell your Porsche ??
Bob

Albert,

I used the early car Targa vent windows (I am not sure what year) they matched right up no modifications were made. The installation is straight forward, take the old one out and put the new one in, it took about 4 hours total.
I think the vent windows were only available up until 71, but I am not sure but any vent window available from any year 911 or 912 should work.

I'll take some close ups of the windows for you.

Good Luck, Shane

My '81, it had been sitting in Alabama for quite a while when I found it. I've put way too much money * in it but it's a blast to drive with the top off. Look at my home page to see all I've done.

Thanks, all that silver seems to work together.

Those aren't painted, they are factory frosted and standard anodized, late '73 15x7's.

Tweaks,

Many thanks for the compliments. My wife and I truly love our baby. We have had it for only two years as it was a replacement for the totaled 1978 SC Targa that we drove for 25 years. We miss the SC for sentimental reasons but the smooth G50 tranny of the Carrera helps to make up for the loss.

Our wheels are 7" and 8" factory Fuchs with 205/55ZR-16 and 225/50ZR-16 Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3 VSB. Great tires for non-competitive northwest summer/rainy driving. It is lowered to Euro specs and has turbo tie rods.

At my age, I leave the service to Chris Powell, PCA technical committee member for 84-94 Carreras, whose shop is fortunately nearby.

And no, it's not for sale. I will continue to drive it as long as I can remain licensed, insured and competent/safe.

The Passat has only 40k on it and has been trouble free so far. At <10k per year I'm not too worried.

thanks tincanguy... if I was you I would not sell your carrera either !!
Enjoy the beautiful car as much as possible!!
Interesting how that lowered cars make the wheel/tire combo look larger than they are... the wheel wells are filled perfect in my opinion.
