ECU Doctors has them and recommended Bosch part 0 261 204 376 with Driveblock removed. My research shows it’s for a Tiptronic 3.6. They said it should be an issue because the ECU can sense if it’s a Tip and a Tip has its own ECU.

Anyone know for sure if it’ll work ok with my 915? They said if there are any issues to send it back for up to five years and they’ll make whatever modifications that are necessary.

For transmission durability, I guess it depends how you treat it. I too heard people cautioning me about the 915 but I haven't had an issue nor do I know anyone with a 3.6L that has grenaded their 915. I did go with an '84 euro 915 (not my stock magnesium cased one) and I didn't add an LSD hoping to stress the transmission a little less, maybe having a little wheelspin here or there on one wheel. 911s get such great traction anyhow and I don't track this car, so the lack of LSD is hardly noticeable.
There is a lot of torque going thru the cwp in the lower gears, w/ a 3.8 RS at wot in 1-3 I could make the trans weep

The original mg. /44 was better in this respect as it came stock w/ a steel girdle stabilizing the si/o shafts, I also went w/ a /67 for the trans cooling feature but recomens adding a steel girdle here too.

There are some minor differences between the tip and manual but a tip ECU will work

on a 55 pin DME I think that it is pin 44 that activates tip coding

Awesome. Thanks Bill. It’s an 88 pin but I’m just going to put you on speed dial until my swap is done.

If you ever find yourself in San Diego, you bar tab is on me.

Thank you both! Drives amazing but now I'm thinking it might be time to see what a modern Porsche race car is like. But sadly prices of modern GT3s are so insane that may never happen.

here are the connector pin outs

trans is still #42

I think that you need #56 & 82

the tip has a different way to control idle from the manual, I think I recall a TPS and stepping motor on the throttle

Getting closer… soon to be IROC tribute. Hope to be running next week after ECU comes back from specialized ECU. Then off to paint, wife got to choose one of the IROC colors, she chose Magenta, will see if I can commit to it soon enough. 1982 chassis with 1989 930 turbo G50 torsion tube and trailing arms grafted in.

Kind of looks like a short hood ST right now but the plan is RSR IROC tribute

That exhaust looks exactly like the one I bought from Fabspeed, and I do mean exactly. If so it's great, best I've ever heard including the ones I've used on my 993.

Only nit is that the tips are a little weal, appearance wise
As is typical, it looks like you were probably right. Unless we can find a way to move the exhaust higher I think I'm going to have significant ground clearance issues. I'm not so concerned about the heat exchangers, but the I'm fearful the exhaust will hit on any speed bump or leaving my steep driveway.

And there is absolutely zero room up top.

Congrats man! It's in there. Mine is tight like that too. Zero clearance on the vram to go higher.

Your fan scavenge thing is cool looking. Haven't seen that flavor yet. I heavily modified the rennline CF tube on mine but it leaks at the bottom where the exhaust side and it meet at the tin opening.

It's far easier to make room above than to fab a custom exhaust which fits up higher.

Is that the new version of Fabspeed on yours?

If so let us know how it sounds, i love my 3yr old console version.

Haha, thanks. It’s taken WAY longer than anticipated.

Any issue with your exhaust bottoming out on speed bumps? Thinking about raising the rear 10-15mm and trying to rotate the exhaust to get a bit more clearance before I just pull it all out and buy a new tin.

I want to start this thing!

Yes, you’re right. I know that is what PMS does.

It is. I’ll post a video once it’s running.

I had to mod the heating connection where it went through the tin/cf, I used some silicon tube from a turbo intake. To join the upper and lower sections On this one I used the oe RS plastic tube.

This is what my car looks like. It usually only scrapes on steep driveway transitions and the largest speed bumps.
