Today I replaced the plastic door lock operating rod on driver side, with metal one. The plastic one kept bending and not allowing the door to unlock with keyless entry.

Drove from Christchurch to Auckland and back for the New Zealand festival of Motor Racing featuring F5000. About 2700 Kilometers.

We met Teddy Pilette ( two time European F5000 Champ and ex F1 drive) who ended up staying in the house we were staying at.

It was 41 years since he last raced in New Zealand so we took him to Pukekohe racetrack for a few laps in my 3.2. It had changed a lot since he was last there, but Teddy certainty hadn't forgotten how to drive fast! The only problem was the change from 5th to 6th!!

Tried to fix our broken shift rod (top part spins in the bottom part...not good for shifting!). Couldn't get my fat fingers between the shift rod and base, so asked my helper to try...

Can't really say it was a successful fix, so most likely I'll be updating to a Rennshift system. To help with that ($$$), I need to put the winter Fuchs up for sale, so out they came for a good cleaning. Check out Julie's cool cleaning glove!

I promise, I actually did more than stand around and take pictures...

If the shaft is just loose in the socket with the ball on the bottom, that's just an epoxy bond. A little heat and it comes right apart and you can re-stick it with some jb weld, or have it tack welded.

Gave it an Eye-talian tune-up, Mulholland-style.

Busy day for me... Not exactly my 911, today a client's '81 SC Targa.
(I get to work on Porsche's every day)
10am start, install right door panel complete. Re glue plastic vapor barrier to door shell with rubber cement. Clean and paint machine screws for bottom of door pocket.
Remove old rubber seals for door light contact switches. Remove switches and clean contacts. Reinstall with new rubber seals.
Next paint white inset on heat/defrost knobs that are being restored. Let them dry in sun while lifting rear of the car.
Remove rear wheels and do a final wipe down of wheel wells and hand wax.
Install the heat knobs.
Remove old sun visors and install new 964 targa visors.

Remove rear rotor retaining screws, mask off rear rotor hats insitu, prep., and paint with Zinc weld thru primer.
Open and prep. new 1" spacers for rear wheel hubs.
Reinstall cleaned rotor set screws and rear wheel spacers.
Reinstall rear wheels.
Lower rear of car.

Lift front of car. Pull front wheels. Remove front AC Impact bar and cage. Prep. and repaint.
Final hand clean on front wheel wells. Hand wax.
1:30pm lunch
Pull front plate and clean valance area. Repaint plate screws.
Address hole torn in right wheel well from road debris near oil line. Pull and shape sheet metal. Fill small remaining hole with JB weld.

Stop work on 911, colorsand and buff Audi A4 rear bumper. (Yesterday's job) reassemble tail light and take care of overspray from someone else's repair.

4:30pm Back to 911, reinstall front AC cage and Impact bar. Mix up single stage Grandprix White and touch up chips around vehicle. Brush paint hole repair area.
Last item of the day, replace Gaff tape edging around expanded mesh screen for air intake at cowl.
End of day 6:30pm.
Always a good time when things get accomplished!

I finished fitting the new air oil separator and reassembled the top end of the engine, changed transmission oil and did a coolant flush on my 2001 996. Started and ran first time, no check engine light or funny noises, always a nervous moment after doing a bigger job like this.

Only managed to extract 2 liters of old oil from the transmission, it took 3 liters to bring it up to the filler hole.

Good idea on the heat. It rotates right now, but doesn't come out...so we "rigged" it with some Gorilla tape for now. I'm kinda using it as en excuse to update to a Rennshift, but will use your plan if finances don't work out. Eric Hahl had the same thing happen to him, and he said JB Weld works just fine!

Today I finally sourced a good set of 16x 6 and 7s with '86 date codes, since my car lost its OEM wheels two owners ago.

Looks good. I see Eibach springs, what setup is it ? Did you had to make any modification at the top where the shock mounts ?

Looks like you use the steel Banana arms.

Cheers
