The details are unimportant, but I had zero sleep issues until I did...mostly arthritis from injuries and age.
Spray on Essential Oils. I know folks that swear by a product called Seven Minerals. My experience has been just ok. Essential Oil diffusers. I have several, one that will run all night while I sleep. There are essential oils for breathing easy, calming, etc. They work for me. It took a bit to find the right mix. One is cooking as I type. ![]() Pillows. Don't laugh. I have a set of these and a few other pillow-pillows I bought after some research. These work for me in various configurations. ![]() I also do THC gummies, max of 20mg per night, 10mg an hour before bed and then 10mg if I wake up.. There is a ton of options that I would try. Mouth guard. They have some disposables I like that work when I need them to. A good friend of mine swears by the "sound" machines...he has a lot of problems falling asleep and it works for him. Best of luck.

melatonin works great for jetlag, don't think that long term daily use would be a good idea.
counting sheep or anything else is a good way to hypnotize yourself but sometimes you need more than that no alcohol is a must, you might be out but it's not a restorative sleep dark, cool, quiet room is a big plus avoid screen time before bed time Magnesium Citrate, Magnesium Glycinate & Magnesium Malate. Are three of the most effective and bioavailable types of magnesium' I take a Magnesium Glycinate after dinner, seems to wok very well, though it also seems like it took a few months to kick in fully. My issue was never about getting to sleep, but rather getting back to sleep after Prostate issues force pee brakes ~1-2AM and again ~4 --5AM

Anxiety is my problem. A martini and sometimes a 2.5 mg Indica gummie puts me out and sometimes right up to my 7:25 alarm clock.

"50mg of THC? Jeebus!"
Yeah, the first time I tried one I ate it at 5pm. I went to take my 7pm hot shower and had to put my hand on the wall to keep from tipping over haha. I was still a bit buzzy when I woke at 9am. |

2AM to around 4AM is pretty normal for me .
I steal a nap during the day somewhere usually. We are all individuals with different habits from our life experiences. Sometimes, not fighting it and making use of being awake is the most EZ route . The sleep classes say, "never lay in bed not sleeping." For sure, I have tried everything. I now do my research and studies in the early morning hours .

I’ve always had a hard time getting to sleep and staying asleep. I tried a few CBD concoctions, but it didn’t seem to help.
Right now, I’m taking doxepin and lorazepam. 🤪 That seems to help me go to sleep, but I seem to wake up after four or five hours, and I’m still tired. I don’t know what’s going on with my shoulders, but I’m having a lot of pain from them and it’s hard to get comfortable as I sleep on my side I have a fan on high, for white noise, and count from 1-100 and back repeatedly, to help me relax my mind. Little rocket man and girl have the same sleep problems I do. We text each other at 3-4 am this gif It will not show the gif, but it’s Elmo falling over

Separate work from home by establishing a “ritual” marking the end of your work day. Go for a walk, change clothes, work out and/or take a shower. As for sleep, try a very light weight hoody and pull the hood up, keep the room quiet and cool. For me, that’s game over.

I have had similar sleep issues (especially when dealing with big projects across continents). It took me a while to figure this out, but it's all ritual / compartmentalizing / meditation:
- Caffeine with breakfast only; get all your espresso shots down before lunch. - Do all your "go like hell" work stuff and leave it behind when you go home to the family for dinner. Give yourself permission to ignore that problem until the next day. Your subconscious can process that, but it's not going to be on the front of your mind. - After work you have to go be present with family or friends. Work doesn't matter at that point - they do. - At least one good walk or more strenuous exercise sometime after breakfast and before dinner (overlapping with work is OK). - No screens / blue light sources for 1 hour before bed minimum. Batch those articles for the next day. - Your bed is sacred - It's for sleep, sex, and cuddling your wife only. Nothing else gets in there. Well, maybe a cat or three. - Visualize nothingness as you try to go to sleep; let yourself get consumed by the quiet darkness. If that doesn't work, visualize happiness or whatever makes you feel warm and sleepy. It's gotta be something abstract. - Wake up in the shower; let those subconscious shower thoughts reveal the solutions to yesterday's problems. |

Watched a podcast today on sleep disorders by a behavioral psychologist. He does a deep dive into "preparing the runway for sleep", getting tested for vitamin and mineral deficiency, and avoiding medication or over-the-counter sleep aids except in very specific situations. I already use many of his suggested techniques but still learned a lot. If you struggle with sleep this is probably a worthy 2 hrs to understand the processes and adapt to your unique situation.
