Insomnia Cures?
I often have trouble getting to sleep. My mind won’t stop thinking about work or projects. Sometimes I won’t fall asleep until 2 am or 3 am. When I do fall asleep earlier, I’ll often wake up at 2 am and won’t get back to sleep until 4 am.
I’ve been taking a Benadryl or an Advil PM, or a CBD tincture, which help. It seems there should be a drug-free solution too. What do you do?

Have you tried melatonin? In the past, it worked for me, but gave me weird dreams.

believe it or not, i used this tincture called Sleepy time. it seemed to work, or it was a bad ass placebo. tasted like butt. but didnt help that i just dripped it into my mouth.
i quit it. daily exercise and my crazy job seems to put me down fine. oh. youtube videos with headphones. the trick for me was to watch a video in a foreign language i couldn't understand. so Japanese restaurant videos for me. and Mexican ones. this prevented me from hearing a phrase like (example) - "and look at that tiny sweater?" which would generate enough curiosity to make me open my eyes and look at the screen. no..japanese. i fell asleep to the japanese banter.

I've tried everything over the years.
THC + CBN gummies are the best chemical aid Start calming yourself an hour or two before bedtime (meditation, reading, listening to calming music) A warm cup of decaf tea of some sort is calming. Celestial Seasons has one called "Sleepy Time" that I like I listen to engaging podcasts, no politics, nothing triggering, just stories that hold my interest and keep my mind from wandering off. Don't worry about not sleeping. There is such a thing as sleep anxiety. Don't get worried and upset about not sleeping. Tell yourself you're fine. Let it go. Don't expect any one thing to hit you in the head and make you sleep. You have to work at it.

I was prescribed Trazodone as a sleep aid. I don't seem to have a lot of problem with getting to sleep but do the wake up thing at two or three in the mornings frequently. I take it mostly when I wake up at those times as it seems to only be affective for around four hours.. It helps with getting to sleep. There are some breathing exercises that supposedly help with sleep, but I haven't tried them.

Getting to sleep is not an issue for me. I use meditative music to help me with that. Staying asleep is my issue.

Have you tried vigorous exercise to both destress about work & projects and make you tired?

Oh boy. Insomnia is a big deal for me. I am middle of the night wide awake.
What helps? 1. Weed gummies. I get a little high. I don't care. I sleep more. Sometimes all night. I don't do this very often. I did ask my MD about this. Her answer: "sleep is sleep." Meaning, even if you have to get high to sleep well it is better than not. 2. I am traveling right now and not consuming 3 shots of espresso in the last two weeks. And. Shocker. I am sleeping better. This is a serious health issue for me. I will be checking back often. |

When I was working, I would frequently remember something after I got home that I needed to do the next day. I would wake up in the night thinking about it, so I started to send myself emails to my work address whenever I had a work thought and that seemed to solve my problem.
Hard work and exercise always seem to help me sleep as long as it isn’t too close to my actual bedtime.

Pop one of these babies in your pie hole after your 7pm hot shower and you will sleep like a baby. I usually get at least 8 solid hours.

I genuinely enjoy D9 gummies, but 30mgs? NFW. That's way too much and would rock the world of all but diehard stoners. Even 30mg of D8 is very strong (D8 is 1/4 of D9 potency). 5mg or less of D9 equivalent is way more than enough. For the average person looking for sleep, start with ~2.5mg D9. Work up from there as needed. Sent from my CPH2451 using Tapatalk |

I don't have any prob getting asleep, but I've heard gummies work the best.
I wonder if a person builds up a tolerance and has to take more after a while?

I'm a CBD oil user. Works OK.
But if it doesn't work and my mind is racing I say to myself that I can think about whatever I like that is within a metre of me and right now - no past or future. And concentrate on smooth easy breathing. Then my mind get bored and off to sleep I go. |

50mg of THC? Jeebus!
I use 10 mg of THC + CBN and that's plenty. The CBN is a cannabinoid that is only mildly psychoactive (doesn't get you high) and promotes calmness. "CBN fits best into an intentional nighttime wellness approach, especially for those who want relaxation without strong intoxication. Rather than relying solely on THC for rest, combining cannabinoids thoughtfully allows cannabis to support the nervous system instead of overwhelming it." Here is a good site to learn about the various cannabinoids and their uses. https://nursewellness.com/learn/what-is-cbn-effects-uses-and-how-cannabinol-supports-sleep/

I’m looking for some mental or behavioral solution. Like “counting sheep” but that doesn’t work for me. Some sort of meditation or suchlike.
I used to use an iOS Sleep App that reported my hours sleeping and in light or deep or REM sleep, gave me a score each night. That kind of worked, by gamifying sleep I was motivated to fall asleep faster. But after awhile the thrill of a high sleep score (hey, I have a boring life) wore off. I sometimes put on calming music or ocean waves sounds. That helps but the tinny iPhone speaker gets me thinking hmm, the audio quality . . . I should hang some better speakers on the far wall, I have some extra Bose 901s, I could power with that spare NAD amp, and . . . soon my mind is racing again. I’ve had a problem with waking up in the middle of the night for decades. It started when I was setting an alarm for 2 am to wake up and read the news from Asia then get another couple hours sleep before the market day started. I don’t need to do that anymore but seems I’ve screwed myself up. Currently my problem is I get into bed and scan the news - including from Asia - and then can’t stop thinking about whatever the yen or oil or futures are doing. I’ve tried to not do that, but then I lay awake wondering what is going on that I’m missing.

What’s worked for me is some form of meditative music or brown noise but it only works for me with noise canceling ear buds.

i thought waking up at 2:00 am on the regular (or getting up to pee) was a cortisol issue?
maybe call your doctor?
