Here's the new spoon so far....stopped and got a forward assist and gas tube as well today....need to figure out what I'm doing for sights before I get a gas block and forearmhttp://i179.photobucket.com/albums/w...psc310b699.jpg

Low pro gas block and a red dot

nynor 11-21-2013 05:15 PM

red dot is 3 minutes of angle, just saying. for what joe is building, that is probably just fine.

Well a 5.56 out of a barrel that short is going flip pretty fast so no need for any kind of distance sighting.

Hey David, how did the trip go? Did you get that load moved OK?

The remainder was OK. I spent just under three hours getting through five miles of I-35 due to construction...

Yes, got it all moved and unloaded. Neighbor's boy at my temporary digs has a neat '69 Mercedes that he saved up and bought with his own money. He was very excited looking over the SC. We might have to go for a ride later. I turned him on to Pelican.

That thing is more point and click close and personal right? Why a sight? Just a laser will do, no?

Sid,

So that was Eva at dinner? She was somewhat familiar but I could not place her name. I knew she looked somewhat less hot than Tweeze but still rather nice.

Howdy David

Mr. Noveske, the owner of the company that made that barrel, routinely hit targets at 100 yds with that barrel...

RKDinOKC 11-21-2013 06:08 PM

Mr. Noveske must have a pretty good throwing arm. :)

And ya... Tweeze couldn't make it out, so I had to settle... ;)

So how formal is this affair? Do I need to go full Formal Ryan Gosling?

Or something slightly more casual?

Sidney, very sweet. And I just have to say that I am way more fun than Eva Mendes, not that I have met her or anything. ;)

And Sidney, if you dressed either of those ways, you are gonna be saying,"Eva Mendes... Who?" ;)

Hello, guys. Between running the half marathon, showing Sidney around Vegas, work, pole, the boys, haven't had much spare time.

Now I have gone and signed up for another marathon...

nynor 11-21-2013 06:25 PM

....must resist.... engage filter....

RKDinOKC 11-21-2013 06:38 PM

Marathon pole working with the boys in Vegas?

BA ha ha ha ha ha!!!!

Now that's just silly. If it was doing that, I could afford several 911s by now. But I don't, so that should tell you something.

I like iron sights....
By your logic why not just a laser for a CCW piece?

I'm really leaning towards an a2 style sight/gas block with the YHM 4.25" free float tube and a fixed rear sight.

Red dots are nice, but irons don't need batteries and I just never could really get to liking the smaller red dots.

This is a simple, purpose specific tool...so much so I intend to use 20rd mags rather than 30 for the slight space savings..... Once finished, I'll fill an old briefcase with pick and pluck and slap it in there with some spare mags.

Morning Everyone!

GH85Carrera 11-22-2013 05:22 AM

Good Friday morning folks.

Burrrr. It is below freezing out there with a strong wind. The forecast has the S-word with up to 2 inches for Sunday. :(

The long block part of my engine should be ready by the weekend. Then put the intake and exhaust back on and stuff it back in there. I suspect that will take a couple of more weeks to get it all done and back on the road.

Jim Richards 11-22-2013 06:00 AM

Hi guys. SmileWavy

Glen, what mods have you done or decided to do to your engine. Boat-tailing, the skirts on the pistons, and ???

Outback Porsche 11-22-2013 06:00 AM

Morning y'all.

The only strong wing here is what I'm making myself.

Been round to a mates house for dinner and caught up with another mate that I haven't seen for nearly 18 months. Was just like old times - feeling good (and its not all coz of a couple of bottles of legopener).

Besides that little bit of machine work to help it breathe I am going with 964 cams and stronger valve springs. The P&C were in perfect shape so just new rings. The rod bolts and head studs are are changed to Raceware.

When I drive it I usually hit red line on a regular basis. :D

At the autocross I have hit the rev limit more than a few times. I have a Steve Wong chip but I have not used it in years. It would cause my engine to surge at a steady 50 MPH and it never did work as a package. I suspect that was because of some minor intake leaks. The factory chip is more forgiving.

I will go back to the Steve Wong chip and after thing are all broken in run it at the dyno. Send Steve the report and have him tweak the map. I will be happy if I can get to 220 HP.

I would prefer 1,000 HP and 100 MPG but I don't think that is a realistic goal. :p
