I looked. Or as best I could at night in the driveway with a flashlight. Nothing under the front seats. Nothing in the door pockets. Nothing in the glovebox or center console bin. Nothing in the engine compartment (or even the airbox). Nothing in the trunk, or the spare wheel well.

Smells like wet dog.

That's very clever, the PVC slide.

Soon after we moved into our current house, we had "friends" in the attic. We would hear scampering above our heads. The cats (worthless cats ) would just look up at the ceiling, with disinterested expressions. Hey cats, that's actually your department! So we hired a pest guy to seal up the attic, set up a couple snap traps to catch what remained, and no problems since then.

The problem is that a lot of people think AWD=magic. My old boss in Iowa thought she didn't need to slow down at the RR crossing or other rough parts of the road because she had an AWD Blazer. When my wife was in high school one of her best friends was going to just jump across the canal instead of going around because she had 4WD. It was a bone stock 4Runner. I don't know if you have seen the large canals in the Imperial Valley, but a trophy truck would have a hard time with those.

I figured most people on here would know the limitations of a vehicle. Just watch out for those others!

Jeff, train hard!

Our dogs love to chase any squirrel they can see. The squirrel does not seem too worried. Of course they chase off any bird, or critter. They are so good at keeping the front and back yard free from buffalo, entire packs of wolves, a heard of elephants and lions. Well it sounds like they are chasing them off, all I ever see is is a leaf moving since all the animals are gone by the time I look. They chased off all the dinosaurs as those are extinct now, at least in this neighborhood. The dogs know the barking limit is pretty short. If I get up to make them shut up, they are coming back inside at the same time I get up. The have to be efficient at protecting the property.

Even my dog doesn't smell like that!

I know. I thought about that. I had, in fact, had the dog in the car for about 1/2 an hour on Sunday, picking up the kids. But we were in the car together the whole time, and she was napping.

Looks like it is my turn on the way home. Freezing drizzle on the way.

Freezing rain is the worst. We had an episode a few years back that was just wet glaze ice. The street in front of my house is sloped for the rain to drain into the storm drains, but I sure don't think of that as an incline. I got home from work back then in 12 minutes in normal conditions. It took a couple of hours, in the wet ice. It was so slick that with the brakes on, in neural I just slid sideways until one tire came up against the curb to stop me. Walking was almost impossible. It took me a minute or so to get onto the grass for enough stability to walk. Getting into the house was a chore.

I sprinkled some ice melt and sand on my driveway, after putting on some spiked footwear. I had to creep around the neighborhood and hit my sloped driveway with some speed to have a chance to get into the garage. It sucked big time.

They are fairly well prepped to deal with that stuff here, as long as it doesn't come down too heavy. The crews will be out putting the slurry down to melt the crap from the sky.

I don't envy Pete his job this time of year.

Yea, the main roads were not bad that day, it was the neighborhoods that sucked.
