I’ll pass on the cold. Spent a few days last week on my ass with some kind of virus. Never fun waking up puking.

Where I work they are NOT making good decisions. Has me worried.
I am the guy that puts new hires into Active Directory, Office 365 and assign software licensing and assign all the default security and email groups for their department/job titles. There is an average of 10 new hires every week. I used to do it manualy and it took me a full day to add and assign everything. They would give me the new hires information on a Friday, usually at 5pm or after and the now hires had to be all set up by their on-boarding on Monday. Finally got HR to release me the information for new hires on Thrusday (still comes out about 5pm) but at least didn't have to spend a Saturday adding people. In the mean time I have made my own database to keep all the user information and built scripts to add new hires all the places they need and assign all the licenses, groups, etc. Streamlined the process to just 30minutes. They have hired two different consultants to try to streamline the process, and none have been able to beat my current process. They have never ask me, the guy that actually does the process anything. Last week they had a site down with our new 365 provider and upped our licensing to enterprise level because we have so many users. The big change is we notify them by email what licenses we need added and they take 2 days to add them. Again they sre changing the process without talking to me and want to move the new hire release from HR 2 days. If they would have asked me... When you add users thru the admin center in 365, if you do not have licenses already paid for it does not let you assign them. However, adding new users through powerscripts it adds the users whether you have licenses available or not. Then you can go to the admin center and lists you licenses and it lists how many you have, how many are assinged, and if you don't have enough how many you need of each type of license. From that, what makes sense to me is...Assigning everything for new hires like I have been doing with my scripts on a Thusday, Then firing off an email to buy more of whatever we need. The licenses aren't actually used for 3 days so no problem. Instead they want HR to come out with the list 2 day sooner than they are now. Then have help desk personnel go thru and see if more licenses are needed and add them. The wait until the licenses are added before adding the new users to our system. Just seems to me they are making more work for more people to avoid me sending one email. If they do that sort of thing with everything else, they are wasting a LOT of manpower and making things take longer than necessary. To me that don't make money.

Waking up puking is better than puking without waking up. Gives you a chance to aim your projectiles and has a lower risk of death. Sleep puking usually requires some sort of alcohol, like maybe NyQuil. Guess you could induce the same situation without a cold and an increased application of liberal amounts of alcohol, ie pass out.

Have come close to doing that too in my college days..... no fun either.
Got my thermostat relocated. This converting an open loft to a bedroom is turning into a *****. When I committed to the tweeze that I’d do it, I isnt consider how much time would be required in the attic to put in bracing for the walls, relocate wiring, etc. good news is that I’m about halfway done now. Two more short walls and then I can call in the drywall crew. |

Pepper is a fantastic dog!
![]() Was watching TV and fell asleep. Pepper woke me up at 7pm. Dizzily followed her happily prancing to the bathroom where blood sugar meter is. Blood sugar was 60. Fell asleep before eating dinner. When awake I can feel when my sugar is getting low. Problem is you get sleepy and fall asleep sometimes when it starts dropping or are just plain already asleep when it's dropping. The falling asleep thing was not an issue until after that stroke. What really amazes me is that I have not really worked on training her. You are supposed to collect spit samples when you blood sugar goes low and I really have a hard time letting it get that low. i have been giving her good attention when she wakes me and even more if she wakes me and I feel a bit too groggy. When she woke me and my blood sugar tested low I praised her and gave her her favorite chew bone. She really really likes those Milk Bone dental chews. One the fourth time she led me to the bathroom. And now, the 5th time, she woke me up when I had fallen asleep watching TV instead of in bed and actually pranced happily leading me to the bathroom.

Stijn!!
Sid, all construction projects are like that. I fixed up the bathroom at my old bachelor pad house. Started with just replacing a toilet. That morphed into ripping out everything but the ceilings. Down to studs on the wall and new sub floor and floor, shower, sink and everything. A total gut.

Jim, I was sick once, I did not like it, so I don't do that anymore. It is against my policies.
We had a great Sunday weather wise. My business partner has a flight to do that was a small city an hour flight away. I will be processing the data today.

A gracious good morning greeting, and it is my hope that all have an exceptional week. Recover from any sickies, doldrums or whatever and have everything go your way.

It is the big holiday, President's day. And I have to work! Of course I have never in my life worked for the government, so I have always worked on President's day. Oh well. So I guess the banks and the post office are closed. The rest of the country continues on as normal.

Don't get MLK Day, or Presidents Day where I work. Old boss took those days as vacation because his wife worked for the govment and got those days off. They are both retired now so are like Jim, every day is Saturday except the morning cartoons.
